"Art," Friday, Period 4
Dean looked... more or less resigned to the stupid uniform that he had to wear today. But only because he wasn't the only one in the room wearing one such uniform, and because he was drinking coffee without fear of sprouting wings (Monday had been an exercise in not freaking out for Dean, yes), and because, lucky him, he had a class that seemed more or less normal right from the get-go. Well, unless you counted the fact that he'd had to walk to work with a crowbar this afternoon so that he didn't get eaten by bunnies, but that was completely different.
"So, this is our final week together," Dean shared, leaning back against his desk and shooting a lopsided little smile at his class. "Which means two things. First, your sculpture assignments should be finished, and second... final exam."
Because that was just how Dean McCoppin rolled. And also because the School Board was making him. But mostly the first one, if anyone asked.
"You'll find everything you need on your desks. You have the rest of the period to finish your tests, and then when you're finished... I don't know. Glue macaroni to the outside of some tin cans or something. This is the last hour of school before the summer, period. Get messy."
If they happened to ruin their uniforms in the process, then all the better, right?

Lecture!
Final!
1. Describe two of the tricks of composition described in class.
2. What is an armature? In what form of art would you be putting one to use?
3. Using the pencils provided, draw an example of a secondary color wheel.
4. Tell me about your sculptures. Yeah, you know what sculptures I'm talking about. Describe the final product for me, along with any methods, color schemes, composition tricks, and inspirations you'd like to share. There is no wrong answer to this question except for no answer at all- Even if you didn't finish, art is art, kids.
BONUS: What's the most weirdly named color you can think of?
They weren't necessarily purely academic questions, no, but considering they'd gone on a field trip to rummage through garbage at one point, there was really only so much for Dean to quiz them on.
Re: Final!
Her answers to the first few questions were accurate-ish? Mostly? But #4 was the only one she bothered to expand on.
4) The Winds are a method of travel for the Blood, from one territory to another. Stories say that once you could even move between Realms on them, even to Hell. Each Wind is tied to a Jewel color, but they are all still part of the same power that springs from Blood.
I used glue, wire, and Craft to put the damned thing together, and if it falls apart I'll be pissed.

Re: Talk to Dean!
Oh God, who let her out without a keeper?
"I felt I should stop in to visit this class myself; after all, one never knows when one will discover the artist whose work will be adorning the foyer of every lady of quality six months after I install it in mine."
Lovey didn't really know from art; she just knew from how to get and stay on the cover of Betterest Homes and Gardens.
Re: Talk to Dean!
"Dean McCoppin," he replied, offering her a bit of a bow and a wry little smile. "Charmed to make the acquaintance of such a well-bred young lady."
And ever the flatterer.
"It's safe to assume that you've got an appreciation for fine art, then, Ms. Howell?"
Re: Talk to Dean!
"I have an appreciation for a good decorator," she corrected mildly. "I pay people to appreciate the art for me."
Re: Talk to Dean!
Dean was doing an admirable job keeping that dubious tone out of his voice. As a guy who wanted to be a career artist, he at least had a bit of practice in that regard.
"How are you enjoying your stay on the island so far?"
Re: Talk to Dean!
That was one way of putting it.
Re: Talk to Dean!
He had the feeling that he should have put a little something extra into it today.
"Small town and all, I mean."
... Yes.
Re: Talk to Dean!
That... was also one way of putting it.
Re: Talk to Dean!
He tried not to look momentarily baffled, and only mostly succeeded this time around.
"Well, then Fandom must be practically homey," he tried, a little lamely. "I mean, rabbits aside."
... Was he not supposed to mention the rabbits. Dean had no idea if he was supposed to mention the rabbits.
Re: Talk to Dean!
Re: Talk to Dean!
There. That ought to do it, right?
"Uh... But you're okay, I hope? I mean, your stole made it through the ordeal?"
Re: Talk to Dean!
Re: Talk to Dean!
"Of course," he replied, raising his coffee in a sort of not-quite-a-toast. "It only stands to reason that a cultured lady has a cultured mink."
OOC!
In any case, it was a pleasure having Dean teach you this semester. I'm pulling him back to townie status for the summer while my work schedule potentially explodes in my face, but thank you guys for letting me indulge that geeky artist side for the past couple of months.
