The Art of Scrap, Friday, Period 4

The setup in the art room was pretty straightforward today. The lights were somewhat dimmed, the coffee was on the desk, which had a single lamp on it so that students could pour without scalding themselves in the dark, and there was a television at the front of the room. Dean was leaning against a nearby wall, looking somewhat perplexed by the remote in his hands before glancing up and nodding at the students in the room.

There were so many buttons.

"Hey, guys. Today we're going to take it easy, sit back, and watch a movie based on the life of an artist from around my own time," he greeted, nodding up from the remote. "For an artist, the guy's pretty popular. His stuff looks deceptively simple, so naturally there are a lot of people who just shake their heads and move on, but trust me, it's art." A beat. Yeah, Dean knew that feeling well enough. "If you've seen those huge paintings that are mostly just splatters of paint across the canvas, odds are they're at least inspired by this guy."

And with that, Dean turned on the movie, (with only a small amount of pushing-the-wrong-button time wasted) and went to take a seat of his own.

Watching this, George wanted to just ... buy some canvas and just throw paint at it. Which Seifer might not appreciate so much.

Wow. Rapunzel had never really thought about art in such an abstract way. She wasn't sure if it was for her, but it was interesting to think about someone having such a different idea of what painting was supposed to be like...

Maybe she'd have to try it sometime.

But who was doing her best not to facepalm about how much he was fumbling with it.
