So You're a Fugitive From Justice, Tuesday, 3rd Period

Class was in the Danger Shop today. And the shop was... a large, white expanse.

In what seemed to be roughly the center of the expanse, Zayne was sitting on the floor with his legs crossed. "Hey everyone. Just go ahead and have a seat on the ground. Feel free to space yourselves out a little, too."

"I'll explain this in more depth in a later class, but there was a point where I turned myself in to the Republic to avert a disaster," Zayne said, leading class off on a joyful note this week of all weeks. "It... didn't really work. And then I was a prisoner on a Republic cruiser for a week while the cruiser was fleeing the Mandalorian fleet. It was kind of insane, from what I understand."

"Obviously, I was in the brig, so I didn't know much of anything that was happening. And not knowing while being in solitary confinement probably would have driven me insane, except for one thing. I could still meditate," Zayne said. "Its not something I've ever been great at, just sitting there and doing nothing in an extremely active way. But when you have no other choice, you get good. Or you go nuts."

"Actually, the guards thought I had. I spent a few days sitting in one spot against the wall, and I didn't move until the ship was being overtaken and the commanding officer had no other choice but to use me, the dangerous criminal, to give them one last stand against the invaders," Zayne said. "The officer was stunned when the second I stood up, the wall behind me fell apart, giving us direct access to the hanger bay where the small group of us remaining were able to take a small ship and escape."

"With all of that time to myself, I was able to use my Force sensitivity to realize what was on the other side of the wall, and then I had plenty of time to remove all the bolts in the wall with my mind, so it would fall apart."

"Obviously, not all of you would be able to take things apart with your mind, but meditation can work for everyone if they open themselves up to it. It can be relaxing if you have too much stress. It can lead to clearer decisions if there's something pressing. All of which can help whether you're in prison or still on the run."

Or, and this point should be obvious by now to anyone looking for ulterior motives to this class, help people who are maybe a little too overwhelmed by something in the air.

"So that's what we'll be doing today. The goal is to clear your mind of all distractions and focus inward. For this exercise I'm going to ask you to think of either something nice from your youth or some positive goal you have for yourself in ten years and focus on that," Zayne said. Because that would hopefully be harder to turn horribly filthy than whatever was going on in your present. "So everyone close your eyes. I'll start some white noise, and then you're going to do your best to just focus."

It was a losing battle, Zayne was sure, but it was either this or watch people miss the point of non-lethal violence.

Even with her sneezing and twitchiness, Mord'Sith training meant Cara had few problems kneeling and keeping still.

Physically still.

Mord'Sith techniques for dividing the mind were a little different to mediation, and considering what, or more importantly who, she was thinking of...that part didn't work particularly well. In fact it only made her more restless.

Even Ender was having more trouble than usual paying attention-- blame his own, uh, personal Jedi for scrambling his brains again that morning.

Still, he was trying to take notes.

Neither Kate's childhood nor her ten year plan were not relaxing thoughts. Sorry Zayne. It didn't help that for all her Order training, this was one things she'd always sucked at.

People would have to also tune out her occasional frustrated huffs as something jolted her out of her attempts at mind-calming.

Simon's youth had not been a particularly happy one, and he didn't have goals set for then years from now on account of knowing he was likely to doe before that, so those were out.

He tried to think of Alisha, but, well. His girlfriend. Probably not the best thing to be thinking about with how... unfocused he was. He shifted uncomfortably and tried clearing his mind with other things.

He was so going to go back home as soon as this class was over. He'd already spent the weekend there, because the pollen did not reach England. This was just too awkward even for him.

Okay, so, this was kind of... exactly the kind of thing Toby wanted to learn. Only, well. A night spent in the Safe Room had helped clear his head a little, but now everyone's thoughts were starting to creep back in, along with the added frustration as several of his classmates failed at their own meditation attempts, which all in all meant it wasn't going too well.

Miley tried to meditate. Really.

Then she thought about a song that would make a great meditation soundtrack, and thought of mentioning it to Dave, and then she was thinking of Dave and that did not take her to the frame of mind she wanted to be in at all. Whoops.

Ender's list of happy moments from his youth could be counted on the fingers of one hand. Most of them involved the sister who loved him, some of them involved the boy who had kissed him on the cheek, and, well, all of them were kind of overshadowed by everything else.

Ten years from now? Thinking about that just filled him with desperation, unsure as he was about whether he'd ever come up with anything of such magnitude that it made up for his crimes.

So Ender preferred to let his thoughts drift back to the pollen and his boyfriend, even if that made things more uncomfortable. Sorry, Zayne.

Anakin mostly just looked cranky; he didn't understand why everyone was acting so weird, and he couldn't quite shield all of it out. Really, what was going on lately?

It had taken a lot of repression stubbornness on Ben's part to leave the room--the new and perfectly square scars on his face, neck and hands were light thanks to the dunk in the bacta tank but definitely noticeable--and the way his jaw was set just dared people to comment about it.

So a day devoted to meditation was...well, pretty much exactly what he needed. It would just be a little difficult with Ender being all distractingly in the same class as him.

...Yes, hello to you too, Kenzi. Toby was just going to- flick his eyes in the direction of their teacher and mouth the word 'cute' at her with an eyebrow raised questioningly. Mostly in a feeble attempt to not let jealousy get the better of him.

Kenzi nodded, cheerful. I wonder what he looks like with his shirt off ooo, wait, I wonder what Toby looks like with his shirt off, better.. om om om om om...

Really not helping with the attempting to reach a meditative state, because now Toby found himself wondering what Kenzi would look like with her shirt off and-

Yeah. Too bad this telepathy thing was only one way. The end result was that instead of being relaxed, he was now all fidgety and nervous.

Clothes were weird when you hadn't been wearing them for a few days. Which Rinoa hadn't. But she had showered and put them on and she was even here in class.

Which was probably a good thing because she was kind of starting to chafe.

Not that she wasn't going right back to Squall's room after class.

Rinoa closed her eyes and sat cross-legged on the floor. It only took her a few deep breaths to get centered, and from there, it was easy to start blocking out the deep itch that she had been, well, scratching lately.

If not blocking out, then at least quieting somewhat.

She'd had to try to meditate Ultimecia out of her head. That had been hard. This was so much easier. She focused on the future-self she had seen at the reunion, the one with golden-brown tattoos, playing diplomat amongst the countries of the world. She was in control, more so than when she had come in here, at least.

... Not that she wasn't going right back to Squall's room after class.
