Food Tour of Fandom [Mon, Period 2]

It was probably best not to ask why today's class was being held on what appeared to be a Mayan step pyramid in the Swiss Alps. It seemed Bond's technology woes were continuing. That or he thought the cold would do his student good. IT was hard to tell with his poker face.

"Chocolate," Bond began. "Has a very interesting culinary history. It has been culivated for over three thousand years with the earliest known site being located in Honduras, and in that time has been used for a variety of purposes in Mesoamerican cooking and culture. However, despite its ubiquity in both savoury and sweet dishes throughout Central and South American, it's use in European cooking it has been primarily, even solely, as a sweet ingredient."

Bond continued in this vein a while, explaining some of steps between the Aztec versions of chocolate turning into the European ones. Finally, he gestured to a table set up with a wide array of dishes, plus an odd looking machine.

"I've provided a selection of sweet and savoury dishes that use chocolate as an ingredient for you to try," he explained. "As well as a custom chocolate bar maker for you to experiment with."
