Detention!- Danger Shop- Saturday morning

When the students arrived at detention, they'd find the Danger Shop looking a lot like an auditorium today. One might say exactly like an auditorium, actually. They'd find Jaye backstage, where once everyone arrived she said, "So today you're going to be putting on a little bit of a show. Kind of an improvisational play, really. You'll find out the plot- well, 'plot'- as you go along, there's no script, you come up who your character is going to be, and once you make it to the end of the play, you're done and can go home."

She started to leave the backstage area, then turned back. "Oh, right, and you might have an audience. So... no pressure or anything."

"I know!" Juliet exclaimed, not offended in the least. "I would never, ever, ever go on a honeymoon ... on a bus."

Seriously. Those things had germs.

"Why am I even married!?" Topher demanded. "That's lame!"

They were clearly on different wavelengths here.

"We must have run away together," Juliet decided, determined to make the best of it. "My family doesn't approve of you so we're heading out into the world to make a fresh start." A beat. "On a bus."

"Why don't they approve of me!?" Topher demanded. "I'm very well-liked!"

That was just not true, Topher. And also not how plays worked.

"Because we need a dramatic conflict," Juliet semi-lectured. "Why else would a girl like me be on a bus?"

"Maybe you like buses," Topher suggested helpfully.

Juliet scoffed. "Nobody likes buses. They smell like old soup and poor people."

"I bet homeless people who live on buses like them," Topher challenged.

"The opinions of homeless people so do not count," Juliet argued. "Nobody who has a choice likes them. Maybe because homeless people live on them."
dollpocalypse: (conv: clarifying)

Topher pondered that.

"Probably," he agreed.

That was good enough for Juliet to feel like she'd made progress.

"You got lucky," she confided, lowering her voice. "I want to be an actress after I leave school. I'll be a fantastic fake-wife!"
dollpocalypse: (spazflail: holy god no)

"Whoa now," Topher said, taking a few steps backward. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves here."

The better the fake-wife, the more terrifying, in his opinion.

"What did I say wrong?" Juliet honestly didn't understand. Acting was acting, it wasn't like she was asking him out or something.

"Distance," Topher managed in a slightly strangled voice, noting on the floor with his foot how much distance he deemed was appropriate. "Thank you!"

".... oh my god, ew." Juliet had cottoned to what this was about and was frankly insulted. "First, don't flatter yourself. Second, keeping my distance is not going to be a problem."

And now the play was going to seem to be about two newlyweds who hated each other. Fun!

"Good," Topher said, relieved.

A beat.

"And those are pretty much the same thing." Just so she knew.

"Okay," said Topher, untroubled by this.
