Unlike the last two classes, today the Danger Shop was set outdoors. Oz leant against a start line, and a trail was marked leading along a field and into a copse of trees, presumably it looped back at some point, since there was a finish line not too far away from the start.

"Today we're looking at teamwork," Oz said. Which should have been the first warning to anyone who knew how Oz liked to build team spirit. "Using one of the first methods that kids in these parts are likely to come across. The three legged race. For those of you who haven't run a three-legged race before, basically you run side by side in pairs, with your middle legs tied together, leading to the term three-legged, though thanks to numbers there'll be one four-legged team today, but don't worry I've figured all that out for you."

"Now one thing we'll be doing differently to normal is the track. Normally, these kinds of races are run on a fairly short, even track, but I feel you're up to something a bit more challenging." Here came that other shoe, ready to drop. "So our three-legged race is going to be cross-country."

Hanna would agree on the sketchiness of the whole thing. "Have you ever done anything like this before?"

Juliet shook her head. "It seems very ... Girl Scout Camp," she said, with some distaste. "I mean, I guess we could try."

"Yeah. I've been to camp as a kid. I always made sure to avoid this kind of thing," Hanna admitted. "But trying probably can't hurt too much, right?"

"Not unless we fall down, but we won't," Juliet said, sounding oddly chipper about it. She picked up a few ties. "How do we start?"

"I guess we start by tying our legs," Hanna said. "And we just gotta keep our balance. Probably the most important part."

"Definitely," Juliet agreed, and started poking through the ties. "Hunh. Not a lot of these are going to match our outfits."

Because that was the second most important part.

"We'll just have to go with what clashes least," Hanna said, frowning. "Stay away from plaid."

"I'm trying to stay with solids," Juliet said, very seriously, as she untangled a handful of ties. "Okay, so we ... stand together and tie the ties?"

She so didn't know how this worked.
