The Club Fair, Gym, Friday Afternoon

For once, Jeremy actually came into the gym on purpose when the club fair was being set up. There was at least one club he knew he wanted to sign up for, after all.

So, he grabbed himself a copy of the club schedule, and set out to explore his options.

[OCD up!]

"We have cupcakes," Jim confirmed with a grin and a nod. "Philanthropic anarchy cupcakes."

There was totally such a thing. Now.

"I've never heard of philanthropic anarchy," Annie said dubiously. "I don't actually know that those two words go together."

"What, we can't help people and give back to the community out of the goodness of our hearts while at the same time not doing it because the government thinks it's the right thing to do?"

Jim logic!

"... Mostly it's just called that because it sounds cool, but don't tell Britta, okay?"

"Who's Britta that I shouldn't tell?"

They totally had a class together.

Jim gave a quick nod in Britta's direction, while she was distracted by cupcakes.

"She's the other leader of the club," he explained. "She's one of the new kids this semester. We kind of had the idea for this sort of thing before we even got on the shuttle. Apparently she got voted out of the last anarchy club she was in."

Which made a whole lot of no sense to Jim, but he wasn't going to tell Britta that, either.

"Anarchists have a club? Doesn't that kind of..." Defeat the point, not that she was saying it out loud at the table for the philanthropist thing.

"Hey, it was news to me too," Jim admitted with a quick grin. "I just kind of wrote it off as another weird Earth thing."

He did that with so much stuff.

"I think it's just a weird... thing," Annie said. "So do you guys have ideas for things you might do? I like to help."

"So far, mostly we've just come up with stuff like food banks and bottle drives, picking up litter... we're open for suggestions. I mean, if stuff is rough for people back home for anybody here, we could try to raise money to help, too. Sometimes emergency stuff comes up that keeps people away from school, you know?"

Said the kid who had just missed a semester because pirates burned down his mom's inn.

"That sounds good," Annie said, bending to sign her name. "Count me in then."

"Welcome aboard," Jim replied, grinning. "We'll try not to get too wild and crazy with the anarchy stuff this semester. Probably."

Jim made no promises. Besides his own reckless streak, he had asked two of the craziest teachers in the school to be the advisers, after all.
