The Club Fair, Gym, Friday Afternoon

For once, Jeremy actually came into the gym on purpose when the club fair was being set up. There was at least one club he knew he wanted to sign up for, after all.

So, he grabbed himself a copy of the club schedule, and set out to explore his options.

At some point Annie wandered over mostly to see what Dave was doing, but when she spotted the newspapers that became sort of self-explanatory. "I didn't know we had one of these," she said, looking at the stack.

"We haven't had one since last year, apparently," Dave said. "But I figure that's long enough to go without a student newspaper."

"So you're starting it up again? Cool," she smiled. "What do you need people to do for it?"

"Pretty much anything I can convince people to do, really," Dave said. "I mean, I'd like to have some interviews with people around the school and town. Maybe some articles on life in Fandom. But I won't say no if people want to do horoscopes of Sudoku or something.

"Maybe some investigative reporting?"

Oh dear god.

"Absolutely, if that's interesting to someone," Dave said. "This is going to be a wild guess, but would that be something you find interesting?"

"Maybe," she said, trying to play it cool. "If you want the seedy underbelly of this place exposed, I think I'm your girl."

Oh, god.

"Actually, that would be great," Dave said.

WHAT DID YOU JUST DO, DAVE?

Annie made a happy "eeee" sound and signed her name to the list. "Thanks, boss, you won't regret it!"

He just got somebody else to write stuff. And you know what? He'd do it again.

"I'm sure I won't. Welcome to the team, Annie," Dave said.
