Nadia stared down at her nechus. "I've . . . had better days. And weeks. You?"

Pip smiled. "Sorry to hear that. I'm still working at a net worth of neurtal for the weekend. Depending on how the next person who was in the vampire hunting group reacts to seeing me, I'll figure out what the balance is. What's up with you that's making things so bad?"

"Oh, you know, stuff. . . ." Nadia so doesn't want to go into it with Pip. So she deftly sidetracks. "What vampire hunting group?"

Yes. She can be pretty damned oblivious sometimes, and doesn't always listen to the radio.

Pip looked at her. "Didn't listen to the radio broadcast? Angel and Aeryn led two vampire hunting teams to take care of the local vampires. I... may have reacted badly."

"The ones that were hurting people?" Nadia asks, confused. "Isn't that a good thing, though? We don't want those vampires around."

Pip sighed. "It's copmlicated. I was annoyed that Angel asked a bunch of... I dunno, I saw them as "ameteurs". People got hurt. I freaked out a little. I've got... protectiveness issues."

Nadia rolled her eyes slightly. "You European men and your protectiveness issues. Have any of these 'amateurs' shown that they can't take care of themselves when they need to?"

Pip might have just struck a nerve.

"Have I mentioned that I already feel like as big an asshole as I possibly could?" Pip said. "Beleve me, few things have the sheer emotional guilt-tripping impact of being chewed out by the ghost of your dead father." He sighed and put his spoon down. "It's like I said to Angel in my note. I never had a lot of friends. Either everyone hated me or I moved away after a month. I'm honestly afraid that, since it looks like I'm here to stay and you all don't hate me because I'm a mercenary's kid, something terrible will happen to you all because good things don't happen to me that often."

Nadia blinked. "Oh." She busied herself with her nechus for a moment. "So I talked to Parker last night," she said, as though the prior conversation never happened. "She's looking for some people to prank Marty with her."

Pip smiled. "Sorry. If it ever seems like I'm being overprotective, tell me. Please. I'm trying to kick the habit."

He picked up the spoon again. "Ahhh, pranking. As the golf cart on the wall is a testament to, I am always up for a good prank. What was she thinking about doing?"

"Will do." Nadia shrugged. "Something about supersoakers. She send she'd send out an email about it. I'll let her know you want in? Best part is, she's willing to pay us."

Pip blinked. Or winked. Hard to tell with the one eye.

"I'm sorry, I must be hard of hearing after all the singing. Did you just say that we would be payed for pranking Marty with super soakers?"

"Twenty bucks and candy is what she told me." She smirked. "Don't question it, just accept the money."

Pip nodded. "Well, she's just enlisted the services of Pip Bernadette. Can we keep the super soakers?"

Nadia shrugged. "I don't know, actually. If not, I bet you could if you gave back the money, or something,"

Pip frowned. "Well, if it comes to that, I'll take the money. Super Soaker's not worth that much. I think."

He turned over at glanced at Victor. "Am I missing something?"

"No." Nadia picked at her nechus. "Not at all."

She's pretty sure that despite how much she'd want them to, no one would believe her.

Pip shrugged.

"So, gonna try out for the play thing? I thought I could bring my guitar expertise to the party."

"You know?" Nadia hadn't really thought about it, but it did sound like it could be fun. "Yeah, I think I might. I didn't know you play guitar,"

"Yep," Pip said. "Accoustic and electric. As a side effect of the whole.. musical thing yesterday, I've got like two extra guitars. I mean, weird, but I'm not about to discount my good fortune."

Nadia blinked. "Woah." Why couldn't she have manifested free musical instruments? Might have made the whole thing somewhat closer to being worth it. "I've always wanted to learn, but I never got the chance. Is it hard?"

"It's... gotta be like a religion if you want to do it well. Ya know? Every day you gotta practice. I mean, every day." He scratched the back of his head. "You know, if there was ever a place to pick something up, it'd be here. Want a guitar?"

Nadia stared for a moment. "What, you mean, for free?"

Pip shrugged. "Sure, why not? I mean, I'm not going to be using the spare guitar. And it didn't cost me a damn thing to get it. You right or left handed?"

"I use both a lot, but I write with my right hand."
