Jung (Thursday, 02/02/2006, 7th Period)

CLASS IS CLOSED
The door, as usual, is closed in order to minimize disruptions from the hallway, and Jenny's got coffee and doughnuts sitting up on her desk by the sign-in sheet. The desks have been moved around a bit, and there's a big table in the center of the room strewn with art supplies, paper--and a bunch of action figures--yes, including some Space Battles XII figures--and other figurines and landscapes, as well as a few books. "All right, we're going to have Play With Action Figures Day get a little creative today. Sound like fun?

Art therapy, also known as play therapy, and sand tray therapy are therapies that have been pioneered by Jungians. Generally, sandbox therapy is a box of sand filled with little figurines, and the therapist observes the patients' play, and draws his or her conclusions from them. It's especially used with kids and other individuals who're pretty darn nonverbal or unwilling to talk much in therapy. We have ways of making you talk? Not always so much. We have ways of understanding what you're not talking about? That's kinda this subgroup of psychotherapy in a nutshell.

Art therapy? Grab some paper and something to draw or color with, and get to work. That's the bare essence of it. Again, it's very similar in that the psychoanalyst will ask you about what you drew and try to help you work through the issues brought up through the art. Nifty? I think so. Art therapy focuses only on drawing and painting--things that generally go on paper. Creative art therapy or expressive art therapy is the term used when a therapist goes with something else--drama, dance, music, poetry, or sculpture.

Easy day today. Ask questions if you want, or if you want to have a little bit of fun, check out these art books. Or, hey, notice that big table in the center of the room? Hard not to. Go wild. Indulge in a little art therapy or sandbox therapy of your own, 'kay?"

Angel took advantage of the class topic to draw. Anyone wishing to look over his shoulder and analyse what he was drawing would notice a lot of hard lines, and black.

Lee does notice this and worries.

Seeing Lee glancing in his direction, Angel gives him a quick smile to let him know he's okay.

Lee nods politely at the smile and continues to agonize over Angel's well being REGARDLESS.

Angel is FINE, REALLY, and don't let the fact that he's practically drawing a black box while having no expression on his face whatsoever convince you otherwise. Really.

[identity profile] leeadama.livejournal.com 2006-02-02 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Lee does not believe that Angel is FINE well, he does, but that's a question of semantics but knows he probably can do NOTHING about it. So he agonizes more and starts drawing that the blonde figure is stomping on the brown-haired man's face.

In an extension of last night's activities, Lee started drawing snow monsters chasing after a blonde figure with a gun and occasionally being saved by a very muscular guy with brown hair in a viper.

Anakin tossed a note onto Lee's desk.

Tiara in the library? Is there some kind of holiday I don't know about?

Lee blushes, panics, and scribbles quickly.

Shut up, Skywalker!!

Anakin frowned.

I wasn't trying to mock you. It was a legitimate question.

Lee scribbles back.

Sure. Fine. Whatever.

Anakin rolled his eyes.

If I were trying to mock you, I'd say that the tiara really brought out the sparkle in your eyes.

There. Now I'm mocking you.

Anakin took the figures of Ted Bologna and Dark Helmet and began reenacting their battle sequence at the end of the movie.

He made lightsaber noises as he moved them around, in clear violation of their own canon.

When Dark Helmet defeated Ted Bologna, Anakin made him do a victory dance that wasn't in the movie.

Weirdo.

Broots dooddled in his notebook. The doodles looked a lot like computer part diagrams.

Rory drew very bright, shiny pictures with crayons.

There might have been sunglasses on the sun.

Because Rory's kind of a dork.

Susan draws a picture of a black house in a black garden under a black sky. It is, for some reason, surrounded by fields of yellow wheat. There is a little white horse in the black garden. The border is a series of hourglasses, all about to run out.
