CLASS IS CLOSED
The door, as usual, is closed in order to minimize disruptions from the hallway, and Jenny's got coffee and doughnuts sitting up on her desk by the sign-in sheet. The desks have been moved around a bit, and there's a big table in the center of the room strewn with art supplies, paper--and a bunch of action figures--yes, including some Space Battles XII figures--and other figurines and landscapes, as well as a few books. "All right, we're going tohave Play With Action Figures Day get a little creative today. Sound like fun?
Art therapy, also known as play therapy, and sand tray therapy are therapies that have been pioneered by Jungians. Generally, sandbox therapy is a box of sand filled with little figurines, and the therapist observes the patients' play, and draws his or her conclusions from them. It's especially used with kids and other individuals who're pretty darn nonverbal or unwilling to talk much in therapy. We have ways of making you talk? Not always so much. We have ways of understanding what you're not talking about? That's kinda this subgroup of psychotherapy in a nutshell.
Art therapy? Grab some paper and something to draw or color with, and get to work. That's the bare essence of it. Again, it's very similar in that the psychoanalyst will ask you about what you drew and try to help you work through the issues brought up through the art. Nifty? I think so. Art therapy focuses only on drawing and painting--things that generally go on paper. Creative art therapy or expressive art therapy is the term used when a therapist goes with something else--drama, dance, music, poetry, or sculpture.
Easy day today. Ask questions if you want, or if you want to have a little bit of fun, check out these art books. Or, hey, notice that big table in the center of the room? Hard not to. Go wild. Indulge in a little art therapy or sandbox therapy of your own, 'kay?"

I wasn't trying to mock you. It was a legitimate question.
Re: Discussion - Today's Topic: Art & Sandtray Therapy
Sure. Fine. Whatever.

If I were trying to mock you, I'd say that the tiara really brought out the sparkle in your eyes.
There. Now I'm mocking you.

He made lightsaber noises as he moved them around, in clear violation of their own canon.
When Dark Helmet defeated Ted Bologna, Anakin made him do a victory dance that wasn't in the movie.
Weirdo.
