At students entered they might have noticed that three of the classroom walls were covered with still damp plaster, and paints and extra buckets of plaster were set up near each wall. There are also a number of books on Roman fresco painting, in particular that of Pompeii. (Warning: links lead to not particulary NWS images)

"Frescoes were a very common form of Roman art. A fresco is when you paint directly onto still wet lime mortar or plaster so that the paint soaks into the wall as they both dry. Today, you get to make one.

"I've divided you up into three groups, each group will take one wall to paint on, choose your subject from the books provided.

"While you will all help paint your fresco, the History of Art students will be responsible for choice of subject matter, and the Studio Art students for directing your artistic efforts. You haven't much time so get started as quickly as possible."

Angela blushes at the sample frescoes as she waits for the rest of her team.

Rory wandered over.

Distracted? Her? Never.

Parker was trying not to snicker, and then she looked dismayed. "Oh, damn. I'll be right back, I have to change out of this," she plucked at the sleeve of her Versace suit. "No way am I getting paint on it."

"So you get to pick the fresco, Angela." Parker smothered a smile. "Anything, uh. Jump out at you?"

"They're a little mesmerizing, aren't they?" Angela says, with a strange look in her eyes.

"Um ... the one of "Pentheus being torn limb from limb by the Bacchantes" seems ... I'm American. Violence is way easier to deal with than sex, sorry."

"Ugh. Are you sure?" Parker made a face. "Pan and the Hamadryad isn't too bad, really. And neither is the Venus. But not the Hercules with the snakes. That one is seriously freaky."

"Agreed, about the Hercules," Angela says. "The venus isn't too bad. I could do that one."

"Yay." Parker put the book with the picture of Venus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Abt.jpg) on a stand for reference, then checked the paints. "Maybe do a blue wash, all over, first? Then paint the pink over it for the shell and Venus?"

"I think you're right. But I'm from the history side, not the studio side, so I really don't know the technique stuff."

"Let's wait on a couple others before we get started." Parker stood back, surveying the wall. "This is going to get messy. May as well have help."

"Good idea," Angela agrees. Then, looking at the list of people in their group: "I don't even know who Raven Darkholme is. Or Sakura, really."

Barbossa meandered over. "So, more nekkidness this week, too?" he asked.

"Yup. Evidently we have a choice between the really upsetting, or naked Venus. Angela and I are voting for Venus." Parker turned to Angela. "I think Raven is the blue chick. I've talked to her once or twice. But I don't know Sakkura either."

"Oh, right, I think I've seen her, then. Hard to miss blue people." Angela said.

She turned back to Barbossa. "Yep. There's a whole lot of naked people in art so far."

"But before there's naked people, there's blue water and blue sky. So we can the huge shell and the Venus suntanning on it." Parker made a face. "And we need that on there before the plaster sets. C'mon."
