Business Classes - 2/2

Business Law - First Period - 2/2

Piper is standing in front of the class looking very tired and moody. It's best not to annoy her.

"Once again, Ms. Gilmore-Danes is not feeling well. So you're stuck with me. We're going to learn about the United States Court System today. I'm sure you're all excited."

State Courts

In the U.S., the state court has jurisdiction over disputes which occur in a state. Cases are heard and evidence presented in a trial court, usually located in a courthouse in the county seat.

Circuit Courts

The United States Circuit Courts were United States federal courts established in each federal judicial district. These circuit courts exercised both original and appellate jurisdiction. They existed from 1789 to 1912. The original jurisdiction formerly exercised by the United States circuit courts is now exercised by the United States district courts, and their appellate jurisdiction is now exercised by the United States courts of appeals.

Federal Court

The United States federal courts are the system of courts organized under the Constitution and laws of the Federal government of the United States.

Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of the United States is the highest court in the U.S., it provides the leadership of the judicial branch of the U.S. federal government.

Human Resource Management - 6th Period - 2/2

"Ms. Gilmore-Danes isn't feeling well again. So I will be giving the lecture. Today we will be learning about the screening processes."

A background check is a process in which the specifics of an individual's past are revealed for the purposes of employment, obtaining access to classified information, or obtaining restricted items.

They are frequently conducted to confirm information found on an employment application or résumé/curriculum vitae. They may also be conducted as a way to further differentiate potential employees and pick the one the employer feels is best suited for the position. In the United States, the Brady Bill requires criminal background checks for those wishing to purchase handguns from licensed firearms dealers. Restricted firearms (like machine guns), suppressors, explosives or large quantities of precursor chemicals, and concealed weapons permits also require criminal background checks. Background checks are also required for those working in positions with special security concerns, such as trucking, ports of entry, and airline transportation. Other laws exist to prevent those who do not pass a background check from working in careers involving the elderly, disabled, or children.
