Tactics of War [Monday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.]

Eighth strode into class, wrote the assignment on the board, stationed a few replicators to watch the students, and sat her desk, motionless as she sekritly communed with her agitated brethren who were warring on a far away galaxy.

Please look over your handout from last time, pair up or make groups of three or four – as you wish – and share with your classmates your three favorite war tactics. I will be recording your conversations, no need to turn anything in. If you have any questions, speak to your TA, Callisto. If you need me for any particular reason, however, I will be available after class for questions.

[[They’re keeping me riiiiiiiiiiidiculously late at work today (woe), I apologize for the lateness of this post and the lack of awesome it entails.]]

"Yo," Cameron greeted. "I'm feeling in favour of pincer movements tonight."

"Good tactic," Aeryn says. "Blitzkrieg's my personal favorite." Really, that should be a surprise to no one.

"You need a huge strong army for that one, though, and you've got to have the element of surprise."

"But when you have it, it's really nice," she smiles.

Cameron laughs. "I guess so. Not that I'm thinking of invading a country with my personal army just yet."

"Pincer movements are good, altough you need a decent sized force to pull them off successfully. I've always been a fan of hit and run tactics myself, especially when you have a smaller force attacking a larger."

"Yeah, but pincer kinda works in bigger and smaller operations too," Cameron points out. "But I think I like the Parthian shot thing, make them get over confident and then strike."

Pincer?

A replicator pondered pinching Cameron and crawled over closer to him before deciding that was probably unwise.

Cameron eyed the replicator wearily cause it looked up to no good. When it didn't do anything, he got curious though and leaned closer to the little guy to study it. "Hey, fella."

The replicator took a reading of the human and pondered how much acid it would take to melt him. Or at least make him squeal. Unfortunately, it wasn't allowed playtime anymore since its arrival on fandom.

It decided a different tactic. It rolled over and then rolled over again. And checked the human's readings again.

"Cool, you guys do tricks?" Cameron held out his hand, not that he thought it would be able to smell him but it seemed like a friendly gesture.

The replicator stared at the outreached hand. It did not smell of metal. The replicator was perplexed. It whirred noisily before approaching the human and placing one of its feet on the outreached hand.

Cameron grinned, this was kinda fun. "Cool, you shake hands and everything. I'd give you a treat, but I have no clue if you actually eat."

The replicator does read some loose change in the human's outerwear. And a belt buckle. And various other little bits here and there. But it would be a bit too conspicuous to attack him for it. The replicator decides to do a tapdance instead.

Cameron snickers and for some odd reason throws the replicator some change because it really is a good tapdance.

The replicator suddenly has two extra pieces on one of its legs.

Go figure.

It is considerably happier and tap dances away.

Cameron considers adopting the replicator.

"Oh, that's even more effective, especially if you can get them to follow you to a point where they channel themselves to be easily picked off."

"Combine it with an ambush," Cameron nods. "We'd so kick their asses."
