Principal Dewey's Adopted Office, 1/30/06

Dewey wanders into his appointed office, ignoring the rather creative and unique in-box, and sits at the very shiny and well-finished desk. He drums his fingers, and picks up the phone reciever.

"Principal Finn!" He scowls and sets the phone down again and picks it up. "Dewey Finn, Principal!" He shakes his head. "No, no, too..." he drums his fingers and replaces the phone again. He then grabs it and says "Principal of Rock, Dewey Finn!" He nods. "Yes, perfect."

He hangs up the phone again and drums on his desk, and starts opening the drawers. "Oooh, jackpot," he says, and pulls out a box of Hostess cupcakes. "Best. Job. Ever."

He unwraps a cupcake, looks around to see if anyone is watching, and shoves the entire thing into his mouth.

[ooc: put in the comm as I believe no one has his journal friended yet, woe. Pretty much locked to Doctor House, as I'm kinda busy today, otherwise.]

During his trip into town, Logan picked up a fresh batch of muffins at Jeff, God of Biscuits. After dropping his stuff in his room, he headed over to check out the new principal.

He knocked on the doorframe and held out the muffins. "Hello?"

Dewey attempts to get his feet off his desk as quickly as possibly.

Unfortunately, that effort causes him to push his chair over backwards. After a harsh thump, Dewey gets to his feet rather quickly. "I'm okay, I'm okay, totally not hurt, but, oh, ow." He holds his thumbs up. "Hey, hi. Those muffins for anyone?"

Logan had stepped forward to offer a hand up, but Dewey was on his feet before Logan could reach him. "For you, actually," Logan said, handing them over. "Welcome to Fandom High, Principal Finn."

"Thanks man," Dewey says taking the muffins. "You can call me Dewey. No need to stand of formalities." He grins. "What's your name, anyhoos?"

"Logan Echolls, sir. I mean, Dewey," Logan smiled. "So where did you work before Fandom?"

"I've been substitutin' for a while. Kinda like the Who song, only while I look all white, my dad was still white, you know?" Dewey nods. "I had started my own music school, but kinda hit some hard times, and had to branch out. Now, I'm substitute principaling. Life takes funny little twisties and turnies."

"Music school? Awesome, dude," Logan said. "So did you get here before or after the snow monsters were vanquished?"

"Is this some sort of 'let's all confuse the new Principal' conspiracy with the snow monster thing? Cause I'm sure it's all funny and I'm totally for stickin' it to the man, but when the man is now me, I'm not seeing the humour in the sitch-ee-ation." Dewey gives a bit of a grumbly face.

Logan frowned. "They didn't, like, brief you or anything before you came here?"

"I got, like, a ten-minute phone call. I subbed here for a while, but it was mainly an in-and-out job, what with the driving. Is there something I should be knowing?" Dewey asks, tapping a finger on his lips.

Logan sighed deeply. "Man, I should not be the one to tell you this, but... Fandom High's not like other schools. Strange things happen here."

"Strange things like... Alice Cooper strange, Boy George strange, or full on King of Pop strange?" Dewey raises an eyebrow.

"The kind of strange that makes Michael Jackson look like Kenny G in comparison," Logan said seriously.

Dewey's eyebrows raise. Well, one raises, and it rolls over to the other, and then back again. Sort of a little eyebrow wave.

"Wait, are you tellin' me the snow monsters were real?"

Logan tugged the neck of his shirt to one side so that Dewey could see the large purple bruise on his shoulder. "Very real," Logan said soberly.

Dewey stares for a second.

"Ow, dude. Is there anything else I should know about? Like, is the water safe, or sasquatches in the sewer or something? Cause I'm kinda stuck at the 'no way' factor here, so hitting me with all of it might make a little bit stick, if you know what I mean."

Logan gave him an evaluating look, then nodded. "I think you should sit down for this."

Dewey attempts to sit down, forgetting that his chair is still toppled, and lands butt first on the floor again. In mere seconds, by power of comedic timing, he is back on his feet and pulling up the chair to sit down again.

"Okay, sitting. Lay it on me."

Logan sat down in the chair in front of the desk and leaned forward, resting his arms on the desk. "The water's safe," he said. "Cafeteria food is iffy, especially if the Swedish guy is cooking. The sewers contain a high risk of having vampires in them - it's a good idea to care a cross and holy water if you go out at night. There were gremlins in the vents, but I think the exterminators got most of them." Logan paused to catch a breath and see how Dewey was taking this.

Dewey clings to the most reasonable sounding thing in that entire statement.

"The chef is Swedish? Does he make those little meatballs?"

Logan was about to mention ABBA tunes, but he saw the look on Dewey's face and decided not to mention that detail. "Maybe?" he said. "I don't really eat in the cafeteria." He folded his hands together. "Now, a good portion of the students here are... unusual. There's a bunch of aliens, a few mutants, a vampire - a good one, though, a few witches... the demon's the one you really need to watch out for."

Dewey blinks a few more times.

"O...kay. Vampires, Aliens, and a Demon. Oh my." Dewey does the eyebrow-wave again. "Thanks, Logan, erm, is that all? Or is there more?"

Logan considered this. "Well, with all this exterior stress, along with schoolwork, I was thinking we should have some form of release. Like, say, a party? Second floor common room, Friday night? Would that be cool?"

"Hey, I'm always up for a good party. But mingling with the kiddies was a no-no they made very clear to me in that phone call. Something about ethics and badness." Dewey nods. "But I would totally condone some rocking out to some tasty tunes and a drug-free happy environment."

"Sweet! Thanks, man," Logan said. "You guys should have, like, a teacher party or something on Friday. To celebrate your arrival."

"Not a half bad idea, Logan." Dewey smiles. "Thanks a lot, dude. You're really makin' me feel welcome here."

"Glad I could help," Logan grinned. "I should, uh, get to class soon," he said, jerking a thumb towards the door.

"Right, right. You're not gonna be late, are you? Cause I could totally write you a little excusey-note if that's gonna happen." Dewey gestures towards his desk. "If'n you'd like me to, I can."

Logan was about to refuse, but it occurred to him that a signed note from the Principal would be a good thing to have. He looked at his watch. "Yeah, if you don't mind. I was going to run back to my room for my notes and then I got caught up talking to you."

Dewey quickly pulls out an official piece of school stationary and jots down the following:

Please excuse Mister Logan Echolls here. He was caught up in an important meeting with the Principal, and shouldn't be punished for his absence.

He hands it over to Logan, who might notice that Dewey didn't even put a date on the note and that it is worded poorly enough to excuse him from an entire class.

"There ya go. Thanks again, man."

"Thank you, sir - I mean, Dewey," Logan said. He took the note and didn't even glance at it before slipping it carefully into his pocket. "I'm sure you'll do great things for this school." He shook Dewey's hand and left the office.
