The happy humming from the kitchen today might be interspersed with occasional worrisome chuckles. Today's menu is written in neat block letters:

- Fettucine Alfredo (with chicken and/or broccoli)

- Steamed Carrots

- Roast Beast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding

- Pad Thai

- Minestrone

Dessert:
- Lemon Sherbet

- Snow Cones

Veronica winces when she sees his arm. "Ouch, that sucks. We can wait until you're healed up to start. I think I probably need more of the hands on experience. But I'm working tomorrow night, if you want to stop by, I'll buy you a drink."

Pip nods. "I figured as much. Just throwing the idea out there. But if you're going to offer me a free drink, I'd be idiotic to say no. Did you make it out alright during the attack, by the way?"

Veronica has the decency to look embarrassed. "I stayed in the dorms the whole time," she admits. "I'm not much of a fighter."

Pip smiled. "Well, that's what I'm supposed to be changing, isn't it? Don't worry about it. Not everyone can fight. And considering that just about everyone who did fight got hurt somehow, it's probably best that you weren't there."
