301--3rd period

Now today we're going to get into talking about persuasion. The excellent text
Influence by Robert Cialdini will be our guide. Now, can anyone tell me to what
ends we use persuasion most effectively in our day to day lives?

"The human mind is on automatic pilot for a lot of situations. That lets the conscious mind to focus on other things. The drawback is that the persuader - er, is that a word? - will use conscious inattention to sneak past the listener's attention...If that made sense."
