Medical Post: The Gym

Susan, Zhaan, and others have numerous cots set up with dividers, and a table with their instruments in one corner of the gym. They are treated the injured and preparing for more casualties. After some quick and hasty introductions, they got ready for any incoming patients and hoped there wouldn't be any.

ETA: Post is closed to new play as of 11:22 EST. If you're injured, come into the clinic tomorrow-- the doctors are as fried as their players.

"I'm fine. Kara got hit... I don't know, I missed exactly what happened. I think she was out for a while," Cameron replied, shivering.

Shivering, Kara strips off her soaked jacket and says, "Got hit by one of those ice balls in the head."

Cameron winces in sympathy and wraps the blanket around Kara's shoulders.

"Okay, probably a concussion," said Janet. Kara was shivering, but Cameron had covered her with a blanket. She pulled out her penlight. "Let's check out your pupils first."

"Thanks for bringing her in, Cam," said Janet. "You should probably get warm before you get that cut looked at.

"I should go back," Cameron shakes his head.

"You can't aim if you're shivering from hypothermia," said Janet. "At least take a few minutes to warm up. Then go back out and kill some more snow monster."

"I'm fine," Cameron grabs his P-90.

"All right then," said Janet, nodding. "You know your limits."

"Yeah," Cameron nods and is about to head off. With a sigh he turns around and puts the gun down. "Guess not."

Janet sighs. "I'm glad it's over," she said. "Want me to bandage up your cheek? You're going to want to be set for the inevitable ~~already-posted~~ victory party."

Cameron shivered and wrapped his arms around himself. "More like bed, I think."

Janet grabbed a blanket and a spare set of clothes and held them out to him. "I think you might want to change first," she said. "And I agree. Bed sounds like a great idea."

Once the adrenaline wore off, her ribs were going to ache like hell.

Too tired to protest or be ashamed, Cameron quickly changed clothes. His coat was pretty ruined thanks to the ice bullets and he had a few smaller cuts but nothing too bad.

Janet cleaned and bandaged the wound on his cheek. "I don't think it'll scar," she said after she was done. "But you'll want to keep an eye on it. If it does, there are ways to minimize the level of scarring."

She grinned at him. "I'm done. Any other problems that you're realizing now that the adrenaline is wearing off?"

Cameron shook his head. "Nothing that I can't get in a sparring match," he yawned and got up. "I think I'll go find Vala now. Thanks, Janet."

Kara raises her head up and looks up, but not directly at the light.

"I need you to look at the light, Kara," said Janet. "We need to determine pupil dilation and reaction to stimuli to see if you're concussed."

Kara does as she's told for once and looks directly into the light.

Janet checked her pupil dilation--uneven--and snapped off the penlight. "Do you have any nausea or blurred vision?" she asked, looking around for the warmed oxygen and a set of extra clothes. Probably she'd see a pile of scrubs somewhere.

"You have a concussion and you're hypothermic," she said. "Change into these clothes." Janet shoved a set of spare clothing at her. "I'll help if you need it. ~~Handwaving okay?~~ And then start breathing from this." She dragged a canister of warmed oxygen over.

Kara blinks a couple of times as the light is turned off. "Nausea, no blurred vision," she says, accepting the scrubs. "I think I can handle it. Thanks."

Janet nods tersely. "You're verging on a severe concussion," she said. "Have ~~Lee~~ someone wake you up every hour tonight. If you start vomiting, or passing out, come to the clinic immediately."

Janet looked around to see who else needed urgent medical care.

Kara nods and starts stripping out of her wet clothes.

After finishing radio and learning that Kara's injured, Lee comes to find her and take her back to the dorms ~~for some serious loving concern~~.

Drifting in and out on the cot, Kara opens her eyes to find Lee crouched at the side of the cot. "Hey," she murmurs.

"Hey, warrior princess, ready to come home?" he says softly.
