Saturday Morning - The Gym

Hawkeye yawned and stretched as he entered the gym. Inside there were people. Outside there was snow. All in all, not a bad deal. He was wearing his usual maroon bathrobe, but underneath was stuffed with layers. Just in case. Not that anything would happen today except snow, of course.

[OOC: Saturday gym post! Feel free to use this for your gym special snow shelter needs. And somebody get me some coffee...]

Jarod looked up and managed a smile. "No, I'm okay. Just didn't sleep well last night." He offered his hand. "Hello, I'm Jarod."

Pippi's handshake was firm but gentle, she's obviously not sure if he's actually just tired or if he's just trying to be tough. Boys did that sometimes.

"Hello Jarod, I'm Pippi."

A monkey in a brown sweater suddenly skuttled up onto the girl's shoulder and grabbed a pancake from her plate.

"... And this very rude little fellow is Mr. Neilson."

"Nice to meet you, Pippi." He smiled at the monkey and offered him a couple of loops. "And you, Mr. Neilson. I assume you're a student here?"

Still munching on pancake, Mr. Neilson gives Jarod a smart little bow and takes the loops. He alternates between bites of pancake and bites of loops.

"Yes I am a student, Mr. Neilson just sits in on classes. I can guess that you are from town, I think I've seen you at Lorne's bar but I haven't had met you till now. That's rather silly considering what a small town it is."

He smiled Mr. Neilson, then back at Pippi. "Yes, I work there on Mondays and Wednesdays. And I'm sure you're busy with classes. Do you like it here?" He took a sip of coffee.

Pippi nodded emphaticly as she dug into her pancakes.

"I like it very much. My teachers teach me useful things and nobody is trying to put me into a Children's Home."

"Children's Home? People tried to put you into one against your will?" Jarod's jaw tightened, then he made himself relax. "What kind of useful things are you learning?"

Pippi nodded with a mouth full of pancake. "I told them that because I was a child and Villa Villekulla was my home that I already lived in a children's home. But they seemed to think that I should be somewhere you couldn't have monkeys and horses. They meant well I guess... But they were wrong. Miss. Prisillia was always sending Officer Cling and Officer Clang over... But they'd never stay for long... Not even for tea. I'm always happy to have company of course; but, well, it got tiresome."

She crinkled her nose. "I guess part of the reason I'm here is to get away from her."

Mr. Neilson hopped off her shoulder and grabbed another pancake. He could really put it away for such a little monkey.

"Oh all sorts of useful things. I'm taking Professor Dream's Creature Languages class and I helped my friend Maia find an Owl to deliver a message to her friend!" She didn't mention that the friend then magically appeared behind them once they had found said owl.

"And, I never knew math was so interesting before I met Professor Eppes!" Pippi, dispite being the kind of kid that would still use beans to assist in simple arithmetic, starts to talk about chaos theory and how it relates to the movements of 250,000 superballs bouncing down a stairwell.

She's a very chatty girl.

"Uh huh." Normally, Jarod would have tons of questions for Pippi, but between the nightmares, not sleeping since Tuesday, and the fight with Parker, he wasn't his usual frame of mind. "I'm glad that you're here, then, and safe, and enjoying yourself."

"Me too. How about you? What brings you here?"

"The snow," Jarod said, being a little too literal. "There was an evacuation."

Pippi nodded, "Well I didn't think it was our four star gymnasium." she said sweeping her hand to indicate the plush accommodations.

Pippi mentions to Jarod that there are several extra beds on the 5th floor of the dorms if he wants to try and sleep during the day. It's rather quiet up there usually.

Then excuses herself for Gun Club (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/572005.html?thread=27064933#t27064933).

Jarod thanked her politely, then went back to staring at his breakfast.
