"Should I just keep not wanting to know, then?" asks Anders, frowning and digging back into the shepherd's pie. "Or is that just, like, a Thirteenth Colony thing I don't have to worry about?"

"What, the brain-breaky? Don't worry about it. Just think of it this way: you two are cute. And you actually don't get mocked," Jaye says. "You may be the only ones in the whole school."

"That's 'cause nobody wants to make Cally cry. Although for some reason that threat doesn't seem to work on Aeryn," replies Anders, frowning and drawing Pyramid play diagrams in his shepherd's pie. "Anyway, your boyfriend mocks us."

"Not my boyfriend," Jaye corrects automatically. She doesn't think. "And Aeryn's kind of a bitch anyway."

She looks around to make sure the doppleganger boys aren't around.

Anders raises an eyebrow. "Denial, much? Or is this some kind of weird freaky arrangement I don't wanna know about?"

Jaye shrugs. "We just haven't like, assigned those titles or anything. Plus I think we're both hitting on the Mountie and his hat."

"Well, that makes it kinda inconvenient for the rest of us, doesn't it?" teases Anders. "Dude. I'm totally not."

"Sorry," she smiles.

Anders squints at her for a couple of minutes while he finishes scarfing down his food. "No, you're not. You like making it inconvenient for the rest of us."

Jaye nods. "And?"

Anders does a stunningly good deer-in-headlights impression for a few seconds. "And nothin'. Just, you know, sayin'. Wouldn't expect any less of my favorite radio broadcaster." He blinks very rapidly several times. "Who is apparently not-dating my least favorite broadcaster. Not that I've heard him lately, with my radio broken and all."

"Aren't you like, one of the people that fix broken things?"

"Please," he snorts. "I hand the tools over. Anyway, I keep forgetting. It'd get to be kind of a pain in the ass after a while, though, 'cause I might end up, like, breaking it every Tuesday."

"With the occasional Wednesday? Or would that mess up your schedule?"

"See, there you go again, being inconvenient." He grins and starts in on the tiramisu.

"I have to be inconvenient. It's like my thing. I'm perpetually difficult."

"And that, Tyler, is what makes you you." Anders sort of toasts her with his glass of milk. "We actually like you that way, believe it or not."

"I love this school and its students."

Because sometimes he's twelve, Anders makes a face at her. "One of 'em more than the rest of us though, huh?"

"I'm so not above throwing Jello at you."

"Sorry, but that's an activity I keep for just me and Cally in private," he smirks.

"That might cross a TMI line, but as I'm not Rory, I'm handling it like a mature adult." Who just threatened to throw Jello at someone.

"That kind of takes the fun out of it, then." Anders peers around the cafeteria, wondering if Rory's around so he can share this totally made up bit of information with her. Sadly she's not, so he has to resort to other measures to make Jaye flail. "So, like, you know what they say about shoe sizes? Is that true about hat sizes too?"

Jaye throws her Jello at him.

"Dude!" Anders yelps, batting at the Jello and sending smaller Jello-bits flying in several different directions. "So not a group activity!"
