It's pizza day in the music classroom, fresh all the way from Panucci Pizza. There are many types of steaming hot large pizzas spread out on the round table, along with garlic twisty bread, regular breadsticks and buffalo wings. Ted never knew that buffalos had wings.

Today they were learning about music from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

"Afternoon dudes!"

Ted was bouncier than usual today, if that was at all possible, so he lunged straight into his lesson. "Today and tomorrow we're gonna learn about the music from the Galactic Republic and the planets around it. We're looking at music from the Republic from a time when the Republic is at its most rocking. We could learn before and after that, but that's something for a time travel class, not a music class. I don't totally know where the Republic is, and it's totally not important, but just know that it's somewhere in the multiverse that's a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. A long way from here dudes. Anyway!"

He wrote on the board.

Difference

"Even though we're learning about these dudes and their music in two lessons, there's actually a bunch of different dudes that make up the Republic. It's like its own mini multiverse. People from all different types of places get together. When that happens, that means that you're gonna get some totally weird music. The most important part of the Republic's music is that there's so many different types. You've got tribal music from Endor or the echoey music of Utapau and the mellow tunes from Naboo. There's all these different types of music coming together because of people coming together. The way people interact can change the way music turns out.

Like, in Earth terms, you get remixes. People try to put together different types of music and you end up with something new that ends up mixing with something else and then that becomes something new and...well, you get the idea, dudes.

The reason we're looking at the music of this place is because it shows, like, how music can be so different even when people claim to be part of the same group. It happened with the Republic and it happened with The Eagles. Differences aren't always bad, dudes. They can lead to some totally triumphant music."

He was going to finish there, then he remembered something. "Oh, and on Coruscant, they have these totally trippy opera light shows. If you get a chance to see one, do it, because it's totally like snorting a packet of pixy stix without the nose burn."

Ted gives out a handout sheet with details about the project.

Instructions:
1. You've been paired up with someone. Work with them on this project.
2. Pick a citizen of Fandom each and individually interview them about music where they come from. Try to get a good idea of what their music is like.
3. Take your findings and combine them. Try to figure out what it would be like if Person 1's music was combined with Person 2's music and say why you think it would turn out like that.
4. Report your decision in a creative way.
[OOC: Anyone who flakes out on this and screws their partner over will get flunked. If your partner is flaking out on you, buzz me.]
