Cultivation and Gardening [4th Period]

"Today we're going to learn about the Ancient Egyptian Agriculture and the Origins of Horticulture." Justin smiles at his small class, handing out some lecture notes with the information that he'll talk about today on them.

Discussion: What is the most interesting thing about Egyptian Agriculture in your eyes?

Pippi signs in and gives Professor Quayle a note from Dr. House about her absence last Friday.

"Hello Professor Quayle, I'm so sorry I missed class the other day."

Sharon fails today, at reading and listening comprehension. She can't think of a single thing that's interesting, and thus flails, "Er, the fruit crops."

Macbeth signs in and grabs a handout, reading it thoughtfully.

It didn't take Macbeth long to come to a conclusion as to what his answer was.
"The fact that much o'their agricultural advances were taken from other cultures and adapted to suit their needs. Cultures that they had conquered, no less."

"How dependent they were on the flooding of the river. I mean. They lived in the dessert and plants and water were so important to them. The Nile was all they had and they really got to know it the way a sailor knows the sea. You don't expect that from land folk usually."

After class, Pippi comes up to Professor Quayle.

"Do I need to re-pot my plants still?"

"I think it is very interesting that Egyptian formal gardens were the precursors to English formal gardens. It is something I can think about when I go home."

The flailing? Has gotten worse. And it takes a moment for her brain to formulate a reply. Unfortunately for the exhibition of her intelligence, she probably should have considered it longer. "That they have fruit, in the desert. It's such a, a, juxtaposition. When I think of fruit I think of tropical climes like sections of Canceron. Not that I've been there, but I've heard they're humid and full of fruit and lush vegetation..." She trails off, aware she's been babbling.
