Advanced Journalism (Wednesday, January 25 - 3rd period)

"Good morning, Mr. Crichton, Ms. Sullivan, and Ms. Gilmore."

"I rather enjoyed all your little stories. They were very...inventive." She shot a look at John. "And I'm pleased to see you challenge the known truth, much as it pains me to admit in some cases. We'll be talking some more about investigation later in the term - today, we're going to discuss the concept of bias."

"What is a bias? Well, technically speaking, it's anything that could be considered a partiality that prevents objective consideration of an issue or situation." She smiled. "What does this mean in, as your lot say, 'laymen's terms'? It means that most reporters can't be counted on to give an objective, or fairly-written, report on anything they have strong feelings about."

Rita folded her hands behind her back. "And to prove that we can do this, I'm going to give you an assignment. I would like you to choose something you either love deeply, or hate fiercely. Something that you have extremely strong feelings on. It can be any topic - your pet controversial issue, a hobby, your girlfriend, your boyfriend, your best friend, your darling little schoolyard enemy - whatever. And I would like for you to attempt to write about whatever you choose from the opposite viewpoint - ie, an unflattering article about your girlfriend, or something that lauds the accomplishments of someone you loathe."

She smiled. "Thoughts? Questions?"

"Mr. Skeeter is a non-entity."

"Not according to my investigations," John says, smiling.

"And what evidence do you have?"

Rita stared.

"May I see it?"

"Sure even though you see your husband everyday," John says and hands over the ~~OMGAWESOME~~ driver's license. (http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/4564/gumbahpersnickedydl2xv.jpg)

Rita stared.

And stared.

There were so very, very many things wrong with this.

So she picked the most obvious.

"I am not from Texas."

"Doesn't mean Wilbur hasn't lived there in the past," John points out. "Just because you're not from Texas doesn't mean Mr. Skeeter isn't. You two should really talk about these things, honestly."

"There. Is. No. Mr. Skeeter," Rita said slowly.

"What about this photo (http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/1731/untitled26zl.jpg) I found on an internet site promoting Florida as an ideal honeymoon site">

Rita sighed.

"You are a very silly little boy. And will soon be a very confused animal if you don't stop."

"Stop? I'm being investigative!" John produces one more piece of evidence. "Mr. Skeeter told me this (http://spacedragons.net/Carly%20Simon%20-%20You're%20So%20Vain.MP3) was your song."

Rita had had enough.

She mumbled something under her breath ~~because I don't know the incantation for this, hee~~ and waved her wand at him.

John probably felt a bit smaller and furrier (http://www.n-chicken.net/images/MARMOSET.png).

"What is that muggle monkey who's so damned inquistive? Curious George, yes?" she asked with a wicked grin.

John is not John anymore.

He has fur and itches. And his feet are wee! He tries to speak but it comes out as a squeak.

WTF.

He starts gnawing on his notebook paper.

"Tasty?" Rita asked, surveying him.

Callisto came into into the room to do the good ~~minion~~ TA thing again. "Why is there a monkey chewing on Crichton's notebook?"

John the Marmoset skitters around his desk...and promptly falls off because SLIPPERY and wee feet!

"It's John," Rory said to Callisto, staring. "She turned him into a little bitty monkey. She reached over and picked up wee marmoset John, setting him on her desk.

"Why did she do that?" Callisto looked at wee marmoset John. "Doesn't she know Aeryn will kill her?"

Rory shrugged and offered John an M&M.

"...I would just like to make it known that I have no problem with our assignment. Really." Chloe reached over to give marmoset John a little pat.

Marmoset!John happily takes the M&M and tries to shove it in his wee mouth. It barely fits and he starts to choke and cough.

Except it comes out as high pitched squeaks. It might look kinda cute but he's dying, though not really, of M&M!

When Chloe pats him, the M&M flies out of his wee mouth and lands on her desk.

Yay.

"You'd think he'd know better," Callisto remarked, scratching behind no-longer-choking wee marmoset John's ear. "No everyone is forgiving as I am, and I threaten him with death on a regular basis."

Rory offered John a broken M&M, that he would be able to probably fit in his mouth without choking.

Marmoset!John takes another M&M and does eat it and it doesn't choke him.

Then he jumps towards Rory or Callisto or Chloe or anyone who might wanna catch him because he's highly active.
