Shop Class

Today the classroom looks like a regular shop class again. Various materials have been pulled out of the storage room and the shop equipment has been set up.

Given how excited the students were about eating the food in the cooler in the last class, Mac has supplied an assortment of baked goods from Jeff the God of Biscuits and coffee.

Whether or not the coffee was made by one of the students previous projects? Mac isn't telling.

"Today's assignment is to build something that will assist one of your fellow students in their day to day life here in fandom."

Sam, running uncharacteristically late, got into class at the last minute, and grabbed a blueberry muffin and cup of coffee.

With a bit of an evil grin, she set to work.

First, she cut a long length of steel bar using the welding equipment. She then wrapped the bar with many loops of insulated wire and, after looking around, decided to attach the bar to a car battery using a pair of jumper cables.

When it was attached, one of the pairs of pliers on the work bench shot across and attached itself to the steel bar. It released as soon as she disconnected the bar from the battery.

She looked over at Mac, feeling a bit smug. "I made a magnet. For Replicarter Professor Carter. Hopefully it'll erase her data banks."

Mac's eyebrows go up to indicate a slight confusion on the gift. "Uh-huh. I see. She... um... likes magnets, does she?"

"Her hobby, actually." Sam smirked a bit. "Can't get enough of them. Almost an addiction. Especially the really strong ones."
