The Tick was sitting at his desk looking slightly tired. Lockheed wasn't in class today. It was probably going to be an easy discussion.

"Hello, class! Lockheed is not with us today. He had something else to take care of. Today, we're taking a slight detour in our discussion. Today, we're talking about your experiences."

"I know that we have a lot of people from different cultures here, so I thought it would be keen to talk a little about Justice in your original environment! Please share some information with the class about a Justice organization from your home. It can be a superhero team, the military police, your local sheriff's department, or even the occasional lone individual who tries to write the wrongs in the world. As long as they are for justice and, I suppose, according to my earlier statement, are organized, share that bit of you with us!"

"Your metaphor of the week is the shift key on a keyboard."

"For extra credit that is actually related to the lecture for once, please name your favorite Defender of Justice from your home!"

Janet didn't react to Vala's statement. But she might have choked on her coffee right then too. Just a little.

Sam, apparently less composed than Janet this morning, started giggling when she heard Vala's statement.

Marty looked up blearily from his cup of coffee and wondered why Sam and Janet were reacting that way.

Superheroes? Nah. Couldn't be.

Marty waved back wondering why Sam's mouth was all bloody.

Remembering what her aunt had said last night about her boyfriends always having a "sticky end" he made a note to check in on Jack just to make sure something bad hadn't happened.

"Are you okay?" whispered Janet, giving Marty a concerned look. He looked like he wasn't feeling well.

"Had a little run-in with an old sparring partner at Caritas last night. You might remember her? Used to teach abnormal psychology, batsh*t crazy, liked to drink the blood of the living?"

"Oh, great, Crazy Squid Lady is still out there?" Janet sighed. "I've only met her once, and that was enough. Did she do anything to you?"

"Got inside my head and freaked me out a little. Okay... a lot. Spent the rest of the night at Caritas... um... self-medicating," Marty whispered.

"She's--" Janet shook her head. "I don't know how she does that. But I wouldn't leave either if I knew she was out there, maybe waiting for me. Do you think she wants revenge for that thing with Angel?"

"No I think she wanted to go out on a date with me. Except I'd be the dinner." Marty said with a little sarcasm.
