Advanced Journalism (Wednesday, January 18 - 3rd period)

Rita looked a bit less than chipper as she greeted her weeeeeetiny class.

“Today, I pose simply this: Investigative journalism. What is it? How does the concept work?

You’ll discuss this in depth today, and if you still have questions at the end of the class, you may ask me then. Your assignment this week is to write an investigative article on something on campus that you find suspicious or warranting your attention. And I don’t want to see three articles on the cafeteria food.”

She almost smiled. “Go on. Discuss.”

[ooc: Still sick. And OCD threads are going up.]

Chloe listens to John, and adds, "The key factor of investigative journalism is that it's not just researching any old story - it has to be something important and worth spending the time on. Investigative journalism is vital to the public knowing anything important, because most of the time the people being investigated won't spill. It works because most information needs to be shared."
