Marty blinked a couple of times. "Really? A Social call? That's more than brave. I'm thinking... insanity?"

Walter shrugged, grinning unrepentently. "I don't know. I suppose you'd need to define sanity and I haven't met someone qualified to do that yet."

He winked. "Besides, Smith won't actually be there."

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner!" Marty said laughing. "I may not be a qualified therapist, but I know when someone's gone nuts."

Marty is quite amused.

"Good luck with that. I assume you're shooting for permanent detention?"

"Why not? Han already beat me for earliest detention of the semester."

Walter doesn't appear to be in the least bit fazed to be called nut. Probably because he is.

Marty nods with a small smile on his face, he can appreciate goals. "Well I think my all time record was three weeks in a row. And then I got kicked off the student council because a teacher attacked me."

"Which teacher and why?" Walter asks with unabashed curiosity.

"Drusilla," Marty said and then told Walter a little bit about the incident (http://oatmanspatient.livejournal.com/18198.html). "She's not a professor anymore. Turned out she was a vampire and she wasn't too happy about the thought of us souling Angelus. You probably know him better as Angel now."

"Vampires around here are different from what I'm used to. And what do you mean souled?" The closest he could imagine was the tide of souls that Alucard kept enslaved, but that didn't sound right for the context.

"Apparently Angelus was a very bad boy at one point and a gypsy tribe cursed him with a soul in order to torment him for the rest of his undead life. Apparently there's a loophole in the spell that if he ever experiences perfect happiness he lose his soul and become an evil vampire again."

Walter frowned and opened his mouth to ask Marty a slew of other questions, then closed it with a snap. "Angel and I are supposed to spar sometime soon, I'll ask him then. Unless you want to teach the freshman local vampire 101."

He was quite disconcerted at the thought of not actually knowing the enemy. A thought occurred to him and he looked at Marty seriously. "Angel mentioned staking, I guess that means it works. Just tell me that old-fashioned decapitation works?"
