Pip raised an eyebrow. "Well, be sure that you do. You can't drop the start of a story like that and leave me completely hanging."

He raised a spoonful of suoop to his lips. "Have you spoken to him yet?"

"Yeah, we talked last night. I got kinda ticked at him for being so...aloof. No, that's not the right word. Cold? No, that's not true either," he said, remembering the passion Walter could show, especially when they were alone. "Whatever word means that he doesn't really care about his emotions because they'll make him weaker or something. I'm not gonna give up on him, though. I can't force him to change, so all I can do is just try to understand. He doesn't really seem like the kind of guy who lets people get close," he said, a dreamy grin growing on his face as he felt a warmth in his chest, "but for some...crazy reason he lets me get the closest."

Pip raised an eyebrow. "That's an interesting school of thought. Sounds like something happened to him in the past. I mean, I'm neither the school counselor or a poster child for healthy normal pasts, so I don't want to go around making lunch table diagonsises... whatever the plural on that word is.." He eats a tender thoughtfully. "Speaking as someone also trainted to fight and kill, I personally disagree with that idea. You can't let emotions affect your better judgement sometimes, sure. For example, you can't let fear get the better of you, or anger. But ignoring your emotions We're freaking human... sorry. We're freaking emotional beings. Hmm..."

He pulled out a pack of cigarettes. "Do you mind?"

Victor smiled at the request. "I think there's enough space around here. It shouldn't be too bad.

"Maybe you have a point, but I think it's gonna take time 'till I know. Right now, all I can do is love him, and show him that. Even if i didn't have to compete with Aludard, I'd still feel the same, I think. I...I love him, Pip. And not in the Romeo-and-Juliet way, either. They were just stupid. I mean in my own way, a way that can't be defined. it's not "like", it's not "lust"...i't love. At least, that's the only way I can describe it."

"Thanks," Pip said, lighting up. He took a long drag. "And what you say does make sense. Boy doesn't open up to a lot of people. I know we've only known him a week or two, but I get the impression that he doesn't open up to a lot of people back home either. Hmmm." He stared up into the blue cigarette smoke. "Somehow I'm not sure that this problem of Walter's is something you or I can handle. At least, not by ourselves. I mean, you're his boyfriend, and that counts for something. I'm his good friend, and we do have a common sort of "soldier" understanding. But... well, let me put it like this. You may be my friend. And if I get sick, you and Pippi and Walter and Cam and Shep and Maia and anyone else may come and drop off soup for me. You all may make sure I've got plenty of fluids. If I throw up, you guys may even be good enough to hold all this hair out of the way. But if I don't get better soon? It's time to visit the doctor. Because as much as you guys want to help me, sometimes you have to go to the professionals. And I think this is somthing of a similar case." He shook his head. "Well, maybe that's the vibe I get. I kind of wonder how many people have ever actually cared for him before."

Victor opened his mini-box of Honey Nut Cheerios and solemnly opened the bag. "So...are you saying that he needs to go to a doctor? Like, a shrink?"

He shook his head sadly and ate a piece of the cereal. "I don't like thinking about him like that. Like he's sick."

Pip shook his head. "Not necesarily," he said. "Just someone... above us. I dunno. I almost want to ask Toguas to see if we can talk to the guy he works for, but that'd be prying too deeply."

He sighed. "Look, Victor. I like Walter. I like Walter a lot. He's a cool guy. And I haven't had a lot of stable friends my age, so you guys mean a lot to me." He scratches the back of his head. "I just can't help but think that it can't be healthy the way he's closed himself off from a lot of his emotions. I mean, yes, he's British. Yes, you shouldn't let fear cloud your judgement. But... fear is there. You have to aknowledge that some things scare you. I'm not sure Walter can do that. And I don't pretend to know why. But he seems like he can't admit it."

He's silent for a while. Staring into his suoop.

Victor took a few more bites of cereal before he responded, slightly sad, but calm. "Maybe I can't...cure him, or whatever...but I want to help. All i can do is all I can do, and if at the end Walter doesn't want me, well then...I don't want to think about it.

He took a Cheerio and somewhat-playfull threw it at Pip. "Shit, Pip, now you got me all emo."

Pip grinned as he caught the Cheerio. "I know. Smith pays me to make sure the emo-ness levels around here are kept at a certain level. Don't ask me why." He threw it into his mouth and chewed, grinning.

"Maybe you should talk to the counselor, Vic. She's probably trained to deal with these sorts of things. 'Specially if she's here at FH." He pats Victor on the shoulder. "And don't worry too much about it. And don't feel like you have to do everything yourself. Somehow I have this weird feeling an answer will turn up sooner or later."

"Oh, yes, I can see it now," he retorted with sarcasm. "'My boyfriend is from 1940's London and a deadly vampire killer who's probably seen more horror than most mortals can take. He's cheating on his undead boyfriend with me but that's okay because I love him. Oh, and did I mention he's the emo from hell?'" Yeah, like a counselor's gonna buy that. She'll probably just give me holy water and some Zoloft and call it a day."

Pip raised an eyebrow. "Any other counselor? Yes. You would get that response. This is freaking Fandom. The mayor is a dog thing. You're a mutant. There are at least three vampires running around the town. We up to our necks in people who wouldn't look out of place in a science-fiction, fantasy, or millitary thriller novel ~~OMG, META! PIP HAS UNCOVERED THE SECERT OF FANDOM HIGH~~.

"If she's been here for two days, she'll believe you. Hell, if her interview process involved meeting Dean Zordon, she'll believe you." He grinned, sympathetically. "If it makes you feel any better, I'm thinking about going to talk to her myself."

"Why, what issues do you have?"

Pip shrugged. "Lately? Bad dreams." He tapped the left side of his head. He might be indicating his head or his eyepatch. It's hard to tell.

That got his attention. "Like Walter?" he asked.

Pip frowned. "No... it's a little different, I think. I'm having bad dreams that I've had before. It's kind of an ongoing problem. Walter's are kind of new and, I'll be honest, I have no idea what they mean." He took another drag. "Has he told you about them?"

"No...not yet. I confronted him about them, but he's avoding the issue." He sighed and glumly finished his cereal. "Maybe he'll tell me someday, if I'm just patient and supportive."

Pip sighed and stared at his now cold soup. "Do you want to know?" he asked. "Because if you ask, I'll tell you. But this is a one time offer. If you don't take it now, you can't ask me about it later."

But shouldn't I wait for Walter...?

But I don't have to tell him you know, unless he asks. This way, I'll know why he tosses and turns at night!

But what about trust? Aren't you supposed to trust someone you love, even if it hurts?

Victor's internal struggle was obvious. Eventually, though, he came to a decision. He hoped he was making the right one.

"No. When Walter wants me to know, he'll let me know. Thanks, though."

Pip nodded. "Probably the best choice in the end. Still, think about talking to the counselor. If nothing else, she's paid to sit and listen to us bitch about our problems. We should make the woman earn her keep, right?"

Victor smiled for the first time in minutes. "Yeah...maybe I'll check her out. But not like that. That's your job, Mister Hetero."

Pip pointed at Victor with his cigarette, grinning. "That's Captain Hetero, soldier. And don't you forget it!"

"Really, now? I don't wanna know who your Private is, then." Because you know a 14-year-old would totally say that.
