While sitting absolutely still in her office, Eighth contemplates the latest war on a neighboring galaxy and idly misses the Asgard challenge. Her coffee is steadily getting colder as she continues to analyze the reports coming in from her brethren. Still as stone, she loses herself into the connection with her army, so very far away. And for a fleeting second, she misses Fifth. It’s gone before she recognizes the human emotion.

"Yes, ma'am. Principal Smith was aware of my leaving," he replies and kinda hopes she'll leave it at that.

She’s found what she was searching for, but she’s got him cornered for the moment, might as well as now. Eyeing him carefully, she asks, “Mr. Mitchell, have we met before? I’m so terrible with faces and names, I just have this funny feeling that I know you.”

Cameron blinks. Not the line of questioning he was expecting, but it beats having to answer questions about his dad. "No, ma'am. I don't think so. It might be that you're remembering John Crichton. We happen to look the same."

A smile quirks at her lips at the mention of that bloody Crichton child, but she relaxes just slightly to know that this Cameron isn't her Cameron.

"Well, then. Make up work, yes..." she says, back to business. "I'd like you to watch this film (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002DRDBY/qid=1137600237/sr=1-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-8094553-2777601?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=130)" and she hands him a dvd copy, "-- I warn you that it's not the best of Hollywood cinema, but there it is. Watch the film and email me a 100 word minimum critque of the tactics of Colonel Travis, General Houston or Santa Anna."

"Yes, ma'am. Is there a deadline on this?" Cameron asks as he accepts the material.

"Friday during my office hours," she replies.

Cameron nods and for some reason has to suppress the urge to salute Doctor Carter. "Thank you for understanding. I'll get the work done as soon as possible."

"Good man," she says appreciatively. "Have a good day, Mr. Mitchell."

"You too, doctor Carter." He frowns as he's about to turn. "I don't mean to be rude, but would you by any chance be related to Samantha Carter? You kinda... look alike;"

She pales visibly immediately. "We're distant cousins, Cameron," she says, slipping by calling him by his first name but suddenly missing her old friend.

Cameron pauses for a moment, taking notice of the weird response and wonders if this is due to the whole cloning thing. Distant cousins of a clone... Maybe it's due to him being tired, or maybe it really is just logic. They have the same names after all, so maybe Doctor Carter is the actual Samantha Carter.

"I see," he says with a quick smile. "Have a nice day, ma'am."
