Introduction to Archaeology, Period 5

Daniel looks even worse than yesterday.

"Discuss Pitt-Rivers amongst yourself and read the chapter on the history of archaeology in your textboooks.

Hand in last Thursday's homework on my desk.

Blair, as TA you're in charge. I'm, um, going back to bed.

Blair signs in and places his homework on the desk.

The so-called Three Age System was developed by the Danish curator of the National Museum of Denmark C.J. Thomsen, at the instigation of his predecessor Rasmus Nyerup, and to resolve display issues. It's seperated into stone, bronze and iron based on the type of tools used during those ages. It's not terribly accurate and vague, but it's a good starting point.

Pippi signs in and makes a mental note to bring Dr. Jackson some oranges and perhaps some chicken soup.

Pippi's notes on the Stone, Bronze, and Iron ages are very basic. But indicate that they happened in that order and indicates that this was probably a result of becoming more advanced at working with and creating materials for tool making.

She also mentions that there is no established "Wood Age", because wood doesn't last and supposes that we are living in the "Plastic Age".

[[OOC: Not sure where to put the homework, so adding it here.]]

Molly turns in her notes on the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages. They aren't very detailed, but they have the basics there.

Blair yanks out his textbook and starts reading. "So I think one of the biggest thing that Pitt-Rivers did was to make sure everything that was found was collected and catalouged, even if it wasn't pretty or exciting."

"I suppose though that makes it easier to keep track of discoveries, and may in a small way preserve information about where in the layery things the things were found... Which seems pretty important."

Blair hangs around a bit just in case people have questions or wanna talk or maybe just because it's a nice warm room with no people in it.
