Self Defense

"Okay, guys. Have a seat on the mat. I'd like a little feedback on how things are going so far, and if there's anything different or extra you'd like to do."

Angel signs in.

Ivanova signs in, but looks a little too limp to much more than sneeze on any attacker.

Jack signs in, looking more alert than he did the week before.

Han signs in

Vala signs in.

Sawyer signs in.

Buffy signs in, but she looks very distracted.

Angel thought about it. "Maybe a week devoted to a specific style? We could have new styles every other class?"

"I like it." He nods. "Other ideas to add?"

Angel thought about it. "Maybe mix up times when we pair off and when we don't? ~~Since I don't know yet that's what today's lesson will entail.~~"

"That is part of what we're up to today." He smiles.

Ivanova waves one hand rather tiredly. "I like his idea, too." She's thinking specifically of some of the Ranger and Minbari techniques she knew. Maybe she could get Delenn to send one of those nifty staffs as a care package . . .

She sneezes.

"Bless you."

She sniffles. "Thanks." She dives into her pocket for a tissue and tries to blow her nose in a discreet and ladylike fashion. If such a thing existed.

"Okay, let's warm up and get working. Drills today. Play nice with the knives." He gestures to a set of practice knives. He waits for people to pick them up, then demonstrates basic moves for drills.

Angel picked up his practice knives and went through the drills. He was better at this than some of the swordwork he'd been doing with Duncan in the last class.

While on a normal day, some part of Ivanova would be jumping up and down and cooing, "Ooooh, shiny *and* pointy." That part was currently heavily under the influence of cold medicine and was sleeping through today's class. Still, she made a valiant effort.

Jack grins when he sees knives. Now this is more like it. He picks them up, then kind of stands there, because he hasn't the faintest clue what to do.

"Hold like this." He demonstrates. "The move for this drill..." More demo. "Keep in mind, a knife is used for slashing in a fight, not stabbing. If you leave the weapon *in* someone, you're disarmed."

Vala~~'s mun doesn't actually have a knife icon... woe!~~ picks up the knives and tries to get a bit of a feel for them before starting in on the drills. It had been a while since she'd worked with anything but her fists or a ~~Zat~~ gun.

Sawyer warmed up a bit before picking up the practice knives, he's never really used knives before, maybe when threatened at school or something but not for real fighting purposes. He copies Macleod's basic moves, catching on pretty easily.

(Teacher is too foolish to run away after class. Get him! ;) )

~~Gets the handcuffs and baby oil~~ "Hey," Angel said after class was over. "I was wondering, do I need special permission to get my hands on a sword when it's not class? I'd like to do drills during the week on that stuff we've been working on, but I don't know how that works with the weapons ban."

"I'm not sure either. Well, I can keep one for you here and just get it for you when you want it." ~~I'll hold your sword any time.~~

"Suppose that could work," Angel said. "Or maybe a locker of some kind? I wish I could remember how they handle it with the firing range. This is what i get for not being into guns."

"Mr. MacLeod, I need to speak to you about something important...do you know waht a Watcher or a Slayer is?"

(OOC, I'm assuming he knows some of this from her file.)

"I know the basics, but I'm guessing this is something specific. What's up?" He looks concerned.

Buffy bites her lip.

"Mr. MacLeod...if I were to ask you to be my temporary trainer/watcher while I'm here, would you help me? Without my watcher, I'm kind of floundering and Giles can't come. There was a demon attack on one of the students...and I should have been able to sense that they were here."

"I'm willing to help you train, but I'm not entirely clear on the other responsibilities of being a Watcher. Could you tell me more about that?"

Buffy looked relieved. "Do you have office hours so we can talk without me taking up time here that other students may need?"
