History of Art / Studio Art Combined Studio | Jan 13, Periods 5&6

As the students enter they are directed to pick up another handout.

"Good afternoon kids, I trust you will all learn these rules off by heart, and then hopefully we won't have worry about them ever again.

"Now on with the class."

"Since this is our first studio session, we're going to do a little introductory activity.

"I've paired all you students up. I want all of you to draw your partner's portrait, talk to them while you work, try to get to know them a little. Also try and draw more than the one portrait, the point of this project isn't to create masterpieces.

Pairings:

Angel/Isabel Evans
M Parker/Barbossa
Skank Zero Hopeless-Savage/Lee Adama
Jaye Tyler/Bridge Carson
Kara Thrace/Chiana
Winifred Burkle/Jessica Tate
Stark/Rose Tyler
Sakura Kinomoto/Rory Gilmore
Jake Gavin Jr/Jack Harkness
Raven Darkholme/Alex Krycek
Vala Mal Doran/Yuffie Kisaragi
Xander Harris/Angela Chase

"Most of the Studio students indicated at least some knowledge or interest in sketching, so we'll be using your choice charchols, pencils or inks.

"Just try not to destroy the classroom first time out kids.

"Also Jake Gavin will be holding a small exhibition of his work this Sunday. Attendence is not complusory, but highly advised."

[ooc: Apologies for the lateness of this class.]

[ooc2: OCD threads coming up.]

"I'd pay to see it. But then, I'm a bitch." Parker smirked, then finished off the portrait, and signed her name with a flourish. "Done. It's not great, but at least it's not a stick figure."

She flipped the pad around so he could see the drawing. Fairly accurate, with the nose and eyes looking particularly close to life, but not anything anyone would mistake for a Leonardo sketch. Still, the hat looked jaunty.

"That be some nice work wit' the hat," Barbossa said happily. He picked up his own sketchpad and began drawing Parker.

"And that be what I like about ye," he said, "yer love o' the spectacle o' people behavin' like idiots."

Parker grinned, then let her face go blank, then said, "Uh, should I smile, or not talk? I can be quiet, I was posing for your roomie a few weeks ago." She added, "Yes, I do like it. I hate like hell when it's me, but...."

"I be not good enough at this fer it t' matter," Barbossa said, frowning at his pad and adding a few more lines. The sketched-out Parker he had drawn looked very, very cranky. He shrugged.

Parker smirked. "Fair enough, then. Never taken art before?"

"I be takin' it last semester," Barbossa said, adding more hair to his sketch. "I just be not talented in this particular area."

He frowned at the sketch and wondered if Parker would look better with an eyepatch.

"Ah. I just sketch. I have no inspiration. It's fun, though." She yawned, then tried to peek at the drawing. "Is it done yet?"

Barbossa flipped the sketch pad around.

If you squinted, you could tell it was Parker.

With an eyepatch.

"It be a bit Impressionistic," he said.

"Juuuust a bit," Parker drawled, shaking her head. "Should I be flattered that I look like a pirate?"

Barbossa laughed. "Aye, ye should."
