As the students enter they are directed to pick up another handout.

"Good afternoon kids, I trust you will all learn these rules off by heart, and then hopefully we won't have worry about them ever again.

"Now on with the class."

"Since this is our first studio session, we're going to do a little introductory activity.

"I've paired all you students up. I want all of you to draw your partner's portrait, talk to them while you work, try to get to know them a little. Also try and draw more than the one portrait, the point of this project isn't to create masterpieces.

"Most of the Studio students indicated at least some knowledge or interest in sketching, so we'll be using your choice charchols, pencils or inks.

"Just try not to destroy the classroom first time out kids.

"Also Jake Gavin will be holding a small exhibition of his work this Sunday. Attendence is not complusory, but highly advised."

"Eaten by the squid?" She sighed, "I don't know if I'd heard about the squid before. But for some reason it doesn't surprise me."

Flipping the page, she started to drawn a squid. But then remembered that she was actually supposed to be drawing Angel. Glancing sideways, she started to try and sketch his profile. Then she stopped.

"People get eaten where you're from?"

Angel nodded. "Demons, vampires - it happens. Not that anybody believes that. It's amazing how much people are willing to deny. Say it's gangs on PCP or something." He started sketching in a convertable by Isabel. He didn't know why he felt a need to draw her standing by a convertable, but he did it anyway.

Isabel was getting frustrated with her sketch. She couldn't get his forehead right. But she moved on and had a little more success with the spikes in his hair.

"That's funny, because in Roswell if something weird happens, everyone blames it on aliens. Only they're not real." Isabel stopped when she said that. She forgot who she was talking to. She wasn't used to someone knowing the truth here in Fandom. "Gangs on PCP? Well I guess that covers a lot of disasters."

Isabel had to think about that for a minute. Then looked at Angel and laughed. "You don't mean...."

Work on the sketch was progressing. It wasn't necessarily recognizable as Angel, but at the same time it didn't look like any of her long lost relatives.

He grinned and tapped the side of his neck where a vampire would bite. "Yep. Guess that's easier to buy than fang marks."

She was still laughing softly, "I may never be able to watch my dad barbaque again."

"I always wondered how they thought it happened," Angel said. He moved on to another sketch, this time of Isabel in a formal dress, like might be worn to a prom. "Like were they aiming for a hotdog and really screwed it up?"
