Speech Comm Thursday

201--Speech 2nd period

Let's hear them folks. Wow me. After each speaker, feel free to question them.

301--InterComm 3rd period

So? Sender and receiver. You've all done it, you all get it. Now we get into discussion...and yes, you have to talk. Feel free to question each other, I'm not the only one in here who has a thought in her head. I hope. Ok. Deceptively simple question...

What is a message?

Maia looked thoughtful for a moment. "A message can either be verbal or nonverbal and can be used to communicate any thing."

Jack comes running in at five after with a thermos and a slightly worried expression that quickly becomes triumphant.

"Ha! I'm only five minutes late this time and I'm still here before everyone else!"

Maia tilted her head and smiled. "Almost." Her voice was very soft as she said this.

Jack jumped a little, startled that he didn't see her.

"Oh, hey. You're..." Jack searched his mind for the other girl's name. "Mia, right? No, Maia. Right?"

Maia nodded and smiled a little wider. "Yep." She studied him for a second "Your Jack. Its nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too. Everything you've heard about me was probably true. Except for the stuff that's a lie."

Maia smiled "Ditto, except yeah well the same for me." Leaning back in her seat she said "So tell me about yourself. The truth not the lies, except if you want to tell me the lies to make yourself more interesting."

Jack smiled back "I'm plenty interesting without the lies. Like I said, name's Jack. I took 201 last semester and got an A so I figured I'd take this class too. In hindsight that might not have been a good idea. What about you?"

Maia smiled, "Well I don't lie. I met C.J. last semester and we just got to talking and so I decided I wanted to take this class to have her as a teacher. Why don't you think its a good idea?"

"Because she's out to make me pay. I honestly thought she had amnesia and didn't remember me, what a jip."

Maia smiled "Yeah I am not sure how that works, she remembers me and honestly we didn't talk but a few times." Maia looked curious "So what did you do that's got her out for payment?"

"I existed. And spoke. And may have forgotten to call out for safeness on Zombie Weekend."

"Ah" She said not fully understanding but she got the jist of it. "Well...it can only get better right?" She said trying to give him an encouraging smile.

"A message is the imparting of information. Verbally, noverbally, written, whatever. It's the 'what' you have to say." Shep debates pulling up the Sims and vegging while everyone else goes.

Boone thought for a moment, before answering. "A message is what you have to say, but it's how you get it across."
