You can find the layout of the music room here and Ted's office here.

Chairs are set up around the big round table and there are copies of the syllabus (and OOC class stuff) on the table. Ted was sitting at the front of the classroom near the blackboard.

"Welcome to Music 201: Music of the Multiverse dudes and dudettes! My name is Ted 'Theodore' Logan and I am your guide through the totally triumphantly wild and wacky world...s. In this class you're gonna learn about some most excellent music from all around the multiverse. But first, important stuff. Classes are way better with food. The Twinkies and junk food you see in front of you are totally for scarfing during class dudes. Go for it! If you've got any, like, food that you want, tell me and I'll try to get it.

"Every week we're gonna talk about one or two places in the multiverse and I'm gonna tell you about the music they use there. Then we're gonna have a discussion or an in-class project to work on. It's totally gonna be fun, dudes! So, like, make sure you talk and stuff because that's what you get graded on mostly. Every few weeks there'll be a small project to work on, and at the end of it all, there'll be a big class project.

"Oh! Let me introduce you to your TA, Little Boy Blue Eyes Dude." Ted gestured to Crichton. "He has a key to the equipment room like me. If you need to get to the music equipment, like instruments and stuff, you can ask him or ask me. Um, I can't think of any more non-musicy stuff to talk about, so let's get on with the fun stuff!"

He got a piece of chalk and drew a somewhat straight line on the blackboard. He added a few things.

"Music started a long time ago. Back when cavemen were banging on rocks and playing with dinosaurs. Music is a normal part of how humans turn out and stuff. They make rhythms and noises and they like patterns. That's how music starts. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's weird. But in most times and places you'll find some kind of music. Music is how people express how they feel. Music can make you feel certain ways, like with movie music. When the bad guy is coming, you know it because the music tells you that he's bad, that he's around and that you shouldn't like him. Music can make you happy like REM's Shiny Happy People, sad like Elton John's I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues or angry and want to stab people like REM's Shiny Happy People."

Discussion Topic
"For the rest of today, I want you to tell the class who you are, where you come from, what music is like where you're from and what your favorite sugary treat is."

John stands up and goes first.

"I'm John Crichton from Earth. North Carolina to be precise," he says with a little salute. "Music from Earth is very diverse. From ABBA to ZZ Top and everything in between, you're gonna find something for everyone. Instrumental, screeching, Blue Oyster Cult's cowbell and women who can cut glass with their voices. Sugary treat? Definitely Ho-Ho's. Or a funnel cake!"

"I'm Callisto. I'm from a small ex-village in Thrace named Cirra. Music back home has a lot of gaida, drums, and women's choirs are very big too. And I really like jellybeans."

John coughs and says, "And angel food cake."

"Hey, Cal?" Bridge says, tilting his head at Callisto.

Han shtands up, a half-grin on his face. "Han Solo. I'm from Corellia, which is one of the Inner Systems in a whole different galaxy. But I haven't been there in about three years. We have all kinds of music back home. I like clan songs, which sound a lot like what Earthers call Irish folk music, and Corelli pop, the filthier the better." He half sits down then gets back up. "And when it comes to sugar--that isn't Coach Ash's kind--I'm crazy about baklava and jelly doughnuts."

Chloe waves a little as she looks around the class.

"I'm Chloe Sullivan, and I'm from Smallville, Kansas. Which, uh, is on Earth. Like John said, Earth music is pretty diverse, although some areas are less diverse than others. My hometown gets about three good rock stations, and then all the rest are country. Oh, and I like pretty much anything that has chocolate in it or on it."

Yuffie stood up, having to finish her bite of twinkee before she spoke. "My name is Yuffe Kisagari, and I'm from Wutia. Which is on Gaia. Which is a totally different world. Anyways, music is pretty diverse on Gaia, too- There's this one band? 'Charlie and the Chocobos"? That really rocks. And Wutia is famous for these drum guys, which is pretty cool too." Yuffie was thoughtful for a minute. "I like blue rasberry stuff alot, cause it turns you tongue blue."

((and now I have to be off to work. Be back about 5 cental time.))

"I'm Cameron Mitchell and I'm from Memphis. Which er, should say a lot about the msuic where I come from. I kinda like Dean Martin better than Elvis, though." He pauses and frowns. "Sir, I thought cavemen and dinosaurs never actually met?"

Pip stands up, still munching on a twinke. "I'm Pip Bernadette, and I'm from France originall, but I traveled so much when I was a kid that, musically, I'm from everywhere. And I'm here to tell you that the world's music? Rocks. Hard." He swallows his twinkie. "My favorite sugary treat is a crepe with jam in it, because I know how to make it myself."

"I'm Zero, and I'm from Flange City. That's, um, in America. We have lots of different kinds of music, but the one I know most is punk, and that's 'cause my parents are punk musicians. And so'm I. Hi, everyone."

My name is Marty Blank. I'm from Grosse Pointe, Michigan... uh... Earth. I was a big fan of snickerdoodles, but not so much anymore.

A lot of people have already talked about music from Earth already, so I'll just mention that I'm a big fan of all kinds of Rock, Punk, Old R&B and music from the early to mid 80's.

"My name is Angela Chase, I'm from a suburb of Pittsburgh. Most kids in my class back at my old high school listened to either alternative stuff, like Nirvana or Smashing Pumpkins, or rap. And my favorite sugary treat is jelly beans."

"I am Harry Potter, and i am here because my mun forgot to sign the other char up, again I am from England, Earth. The music where i'm from is mostly known for groups of about five girls who either sing or scream, noone knows for sure, and wear shoes that are definately not made for walking. My favourite sugary treat is Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans."

"I'm Chiana. I'm from Nebari Prime, originally, but lately from the Uncharted Territories. Which is, um... very, very far from here. Our music's kinda like your Indian or Arabic, with chanting or techno-ish music in it, depending on whether you're prayin' or partyin'. And my favorite sugary treat is chocolate, 'cause we don't have it out there, which is kinda depressing."

"Name's Jack O'Neill, I'm from Earth and we have real eclectic music there. If you can think of it there's probably some form of it somwhere. As for sugary treats I'm partial to Kiwi Gummies and Ring-Dings."

Sawyer stands when it's his turn, "My name's Sawyer and I'm from Tennessee which is on Earth, originally, moved around a lot and gained respect for Bob Marley, Lynard Skynard, Rock, Country, the whole lot." he rubs his chain, "My favorite sugary treat would have to be a Snickers bar.."

Jessica stands up smiling big, one hand over the other, elbows at her side. “Hello, I’m Jessica...Jessica Tate, and I’m from Duns River, a quiet town in Connecticut. The music from where I’m from is very nice. Its just as lovely as poetry...except with more instruments, and you hear it instead of reading it of course. Barbara Streisand has such a wonderful voice, her songs are some of my favorites, and I’ve always said that if a movie were to be made about my life I would hope that they would get Barbara Streisand to play me, of course, the movie would then be a musical.” Jessica smiles approvingly at the thought of it. “And...I like waffles. Waffles with whipped cream, powdered sugar and strawberries.” Jessica smiles and takes her seat.

Izzie finally joins in, and says, "I'm Isobel Stevens. I go by Izzie. I'm from Oregon originally. Just a little town, nothing special. My mom and dad really liked Heavy Metal when I was little. It...um..used to scare me. I'd hide under my bed. My favorite sugary treat is my very own secret recipe for triple chocolate chip cookies. And look..I brought some to share. Is that okay?"

"My name is Bridge Carson, and I'm from THE FUTURE Earth, but fifteen years in the future. Um, music there is similar, genre-wise, to music today... though stuff that's 'modern' in this time is, like, our parent's music. I like Kira Ford's stuff, though! She's pretty good, for someone from the 00's. My favourite sugary treat... do I really have to choose *one*?" Bridge looks torn.

"I'm Boone Carlyle. I'm from Earth - California, to be precise. Where I come from, music is mostly generic pop and rap. I don't like either of them too much, actually. I much prefer whiny emo kid music. My favorite sugary is...well, I'm gonna have to go with chocolate."
