Self Defense

Duncan waits at the front. He takes attendance again.

"Okay. Same as last time. Stretch out. Warm up. Pair off, but make sure you pair off with someone different this time."

Duncan counters, then presses a quick attack, pressing slightly to see what Angel will do.

Angel's reflexes are quick, but his form isn't as good as it has been or could be. He manages to deflect, but if he didn't have the vamp thing on his side he probably wouldn't have been able to.

Mac holds up a hand for a pause. He demonstrates the proper form for the counter, and he asks Angel to run it with him again, slowly.
(Need to go sleep, Darvocet kicking my ass. More tmw?)

Angel watched Duncan carefully. He nodded once he was ready, then went through the form in half-time.

(Night, and sure!)

Duncan nods in approval. "And full speed." He moves to run it at full speed.

Angel repeated it, getting the move better this time. "Nice. How long you been practicing?"

Huge, happy grin. "Oh, a few years now." He angles for an attack following off the last run.

As before, Angel manages to do okay but his skills are rusty.

"Bad time to point out at the very least I'm not going to get out of breath?"

"Depends. General statement of fact, or challenge?"

"General statement of fact. I don't breathe."

"Cool. When we have a gas attack, we know who we can send in."

"Wouldn't be the first time."

"Someday," he puts some force behind a tricky stroke that could potentially disarm his opponent, "you'll have to tell me about it."

Angel felt the impact of the blow reverberate through his arm. His sword fell out of his hand and twirled aross the floor.

"Some day you'll have to tell me how you know enough to beat a vampire at swordplay."

He salutes Angel. "Practice, practice, practice," he intones. "That, and some great teachers."

"Who taught you?"

He shrugs. "Man's dead now, or I'd refer you."

"So... not that good with the swordwork then."

He laughs. "He was pretty old when I met him. Old age."

"Ah," Angel nodded with understanding. He began stretching his arms out. "So far I don't seem to be having that problem."

Mac eyes him. "I think you'll do pretty well with it. Time advantage aside."
