Self Defense

Duncan waits at the front. He takes attendance again.

"Okay. Same as last time. Stretch out. Warm up. Pair off, but make sure you pair off with someone different this time."

Angel gets his gear on, then waits for Kara to join him.

Kara walks over Angel as she finishes putting on her gear. "Shall we?"

"Sounds good to me." Angel gave her a grin. "I thought maybe you'd like a different partner this week."

Susan stretches out, still a little sore from last lesson, and looks around for a partner, bouncing on the balls of her feet absently.

Han, leery of getting stuck with a girl again, puts on his gear and stretches out too slowly. Only Susan seems to be available.

"Need a partner?"

Ivanova waves at Susan with a little smile, and waits for another partner, covering a yawn with the back of her hand while she warms up. She's trying. She really is. But she's just very, very tired.

Jack approaches Susan. "You look about as awake as I do. Want to spar? Or, possibly, pillowfight?"

"Ooooh, pillows," Ivanova murmured. "Soft . . ." She grinned. "I may be half-asleep, but that's half-more-awake than I need to be . . . to . . . I lost my train of thought. Yes. Sparring."

Vala does a couple of the stretches the Professor outlined for her the other day, then puts her hands up defensively and grins at Cam. "So, YoYo, you want to start?"

Having finished his own stretches, Cameron grins and gets into position. Pip gave him another few pointers yesterday that he's sure will come in handy.

"I don't suppose they believe in lady's first where you come from?" He asks as he moves right in for a shot to Vala's shoulder. It's pretty straight forward as he's just testing the waters.

"Not when it comes to fighting anyway," she smirked, knocking his blow aside with one hand and using the other to aim for his stomach.

"Bad manners," Cameron manages to block the blow and moves back quickly, putting space between them. He jumps right back in with another punch to her left shoulder, quickly followed by another one to her right side.

"Manners?" she asks, *ooofing* a little as the shoulder hit connects and she barely misses the side jab. "Since when is there manners in fighting?" she asks, swinging a leg behind his knee.

His knee gives way and he catches himself before he goes down to the ground completely. He still ends up on his hands and knees, but while he's down there, he might as well grab for her leg and try to pull it from under her.

"There's always been rules like not attacking someone in the back," he huffs.

She stumbles in a highly ungraceful way, but manages to keep her feet. Barely. "Maybe where you come from. Where I come from, it's whatever will get the job done." She circles around again as she tries to catch her balance and plan her next attack. "Then again, where I come from I'd have run the hell away already the minute you were down."

She feints towards his face. "Preferably with your ship and all your worldly possessions." She grins.

He dodges the feint, then realises it is a feint, but he's moving already and goes for a low shot to her stomach. "You don't need to fight me to get that, baby."

She manages to block him by spinning around, and again tries to hook his ankle out from under him. "Yeah, but most people aren't so accommodating, YoYo."

He stumbles back, but as clichéd as it is he refuses to go down alone and quickly grabs for Vala, pulling her down with him.

She lands squarely on top of him and laughs. "Really, YoYo. People have gotten detention for doing less in public."

"We have our clothes on," he protests and wishes he'd had the mind to actually do that hitting off thing instead of holding on to Vala as ow.

He wraps an arm around her and puts his foot down on the floor so he can roll them both. "So... What happened to kicking my ass?" He smirks as he's now pretty sure he's in control.

Duncan eyes them from nearby, ready to move out of their way as necessary. "Vala? What have you got that elbow for if you're not going to use it?" He smiles.

Buffy does some warm-ups while she waits for someone to spar with.

Sawyer stands away from the group, waiting for a partner to approach him.

"Sawyer, you're with Buffy." Duncan nods at Buffy.
