Forensics (5th Period)

"Forensics is defined in two ways:
1. The art or study of formal debate; argumentation.
2. The use of science and technology to investigate and establish facts in criminal or civil courts of law."

"Forensics is the application of science to law. Forensic science is used to investigate criminal cases involving a victim, such as assault, robbery, kidnapping, rape, murder and civil cases such as forgeries, fraud, or negligence. Forensics determines if laws or regulations were violated in marketing food and drinks, manufacturing of medicines, agricultural pesticide use, automobile emission compliance, and drinking water purity."

"This semester, we will be studying four major areas related to or directly concerning forensics: homicide, arson, DNA analysis, and software forensics. Read your books. I cannot emphasize that enough."

"We will have our first lecture on Friday. Bring plenty of paper."

Lana smiles at Phoebe. "Hi. Interested in being lab partners?"

"I'm really looking forward to this class. I think it should be fascinating." Lana smiled at her. "Though, after just earning detention, I'm glad we're not diving right in today. I don't think my focusing abilities are going to be the best."

Macbeth signs in and mentally flinches when he hears the teacher mention that they would be covering homicide. He didn't much mind -or even understand - what the rest of the things she was talking about meant.
But he was certainly uneasy about that Murder part.
There was no way that they could incriminate him with the death of Duncan, was there? Not after so long? Or Banquo?
He found himself fidgeting uneasily through the duration of the class.

Maia signed in, her eyes bloodshot with dark circles under them. She sat quietly at the back of the room not looking at anyone.

Lana tries to catch Maia's eye and smile at her.

Maia looked at Lana, her eyes looked haunted. Managing a small smile, Maia's face slides into devestation once again, tears welling up in her eyes.

With a quick glance over at Ms. Sidle, Lana slid over to the seat next to Maia's and put an arm around her. "Hey, whatever it is it's going to be okay."

Maia nodded, her voice barely audible "I told Sara, what happened with Sawyer. She told Principal Smith."

Lana winces. "I'm sorry, hon. But you know, it's probably for the best. They really needed to know what happened." She hesitates. "I probably should have gone and told them after I found out, or made you go. I think Sara was probably being a good friend."

Leaning over to talk to his brother. "Remind me again why it was we signed up fer this class besides giving us an IC explanation for why we'll know this stuff once we catch up to our canon?"

Connor raises one brow. "Because we wanted to take all her classes?" A nod toward Sara.

A nod. "Point."

Besides, given the mess first semester with teachers disappearing (and classes going with them), the boys could probably use all the 'serious' credits they can get before graduation.

Connor just nods and grins a goofy little Connor grin.


And, no kidding. There's a reason Connor only signed up for classes with teachers he is pretty sure will be around for a while.
