Tommy looks around as the students begin to file in to the classroom, and puts his ~~smart doctor~~ glasses back on as he stands up from his desk.

"Can everyone sign in to the attendance sheet there?" he asks. "Good." He smiles at them. "Now, to start things off... I'm Dr. Oliver. And I suppose you can call me Dr. O if you'd rather do that," he smiles.

"As far as class expectations go? At the beginning of my first teaching job, I was told to make my students as miserable as possible, and that if anyone was smiling, I wasn't doing my job properly. I'll be doing the complete opposite of that here. I want you guys to have fun with this class.

The first half of the semester will be mostly lectures- don't start groaning, guys, it won't be that bad- and then the second half, we'll be getting more hands-on, delving in to some fieldwork. On that note, there will be a field trip later this semester at a date to be determined, that I expect everyone to come on. It'll be fun, I promise.

Getting down to business, now... I'd like you all to introduce yourselves. Give me your name, describe yourself in one sentence, and then tell us why you've signed up for thiss class! You start," he says, pointing to someone in the class randomly.

Sharon signs in with ~~what would be a flourish if LJ didn't keep eating her sign in~~ something approaching a flourish, despite feeling sleepy.

Kawalsky signed in.

Who are you, what do you want, and why are you here?

Yuffie cleared her throat when it was her turn. "My name is Yuffie Kisagari. Umm.. I'm totally awesome and cute and ~~sneaky~~ smart and loyal and stuff. And I signed up for this class cause dinosaurs are cool and I figured if I was going to be in class it might as well be interesting. Ya know?"

"I'm Molly Hayes and I'm a mutant and proud of it," she said, lifting her chin. "I signed up for this class because my friend Gert sort of has a dinosaur and I want to learn more about them because Old Lace is cool."

Rory smiled.

"I'm Rory Gilmore. I'm ambitious and willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish my goals - except drink decaf. And I figured I ought to take a science course, and I took Geology last semester, so this seemed logical."

"Hey, Rory," Molly whispered. "Got a question for you."

"Forty-two," Rory guessed. "That answer usually works. But yes, shoot."

Molly looked at Rory in confusion because the joke went straight over her head. She decided not to ask because she has learned that asking for clarification often led to more confusion.

"Uh, this guy Jake, he says he knows you?, told me that you are the TA for a professor named Tick who is a superhero of some sort. Is that true?" She looked at Rory hopefully.

"Jakey!" Rory said happily. "He's the mutant friend I mentioned the other day. And yeah, I'm Professor Tick's TA. Well, he says 'sidekick,' but I'm a TA for all intents and purposes. Why?"

Molly slumped in her seat and looked really disappointed for a moment. "Jake is a mutant? Why do people keep leaving out the important bits of information, she muttered to herself.

"Anyway, that's not important right now." She waved away her disappointment and looked eagerly back at Rory. "Do you think you could, you know, introduce me to him? I'd really like to meet him."

Rory winced. "It's not like Jake makes a secret of it, but it's not something that generally comes up, I guess. I only found out because I saw him get punched in the face and didn't understand why he wasn't all bruisy." She grinned. "But yeah, I can introduce you to Professor Tick. But you don't need me to. He likes meeting people and hangs out in the lobby a lot."

Molly pouted. "I told Jake I was a mutant." She sighed.

"The lobby? Okay. Thanks Rory." Molly smiled again.

Rose smiles and says, "My name is Rose Tyler and I was looking for something different and interesting to take."

Sharon already kinda likes tthis class, so she's smiling when it comes to be her turn. "I'm Sharon Valerii, I like chocolate chip cookies, flying, ~~have a destiny that's been foretold~~, and green fabric." She pauses to fiddle with the hem of her green shirt, "And I'm here because I thought it looked interesting, and I took Anthropology last semester." She finishes with a bright smile.

"Um.. I'm Charlie Kawalsky. I want pie, but I figure that'll have to wait until after class. Graduating and getting into college would be good too. I'm here because, uh, I need a science credit to graduate and hey! Dinosaurs. I saw that movie about dinosaurs and thought they were great. So yeah." He sounded like an idiot.

If you need to talk to Dr. Tommy (and smart doctor glasses) about something.

Janet showed up after class ~~and totally didn't drool over the smart doctor glasses because Daniel would be jealous~~. "Dr. Oliver?" she asked. "Hi, I'm Janet Fraiser. I left you a message about adding Paleontology to my course schedule." She held out the add form. "If there's still room, anyway."

"Hi Janet!" Tommy smiles at her. "Sure, there's plenty of room," he says, taking the add form and scrawling his signature on it. "There you go! See you on Wednesday, then."

"Thanks very much, Dr. Oliver," says Janet, grinning back. "I'll just go and drop this off at the office."
