Professor Chaucer's Office House, Monday, January 9

Professor Chaucer is kicked back in his chair with his feet up on his desk in the spiffy new office he now has. He's reading, but feel free to ~~bring him coffee~~ interrupt him.

Now obviously it's not that Paige knows him too well or anything but she's there carrying expresso and two muffins.

She pokes her head through the door, "I'm here for my interview," she says smiling.

Looking up from his book, Geoff drops his feet to the floor and grins. "Come on in, Paige, and have a seat." His eyes light up at the coffee and muffins.

"Bribing the prospective employer. Always an excellent idea," he says. "All right. This won't really take much of your time, because I already know you. I'd just like to see a little of your work and talk to you about what the job entails. What I'm looking for is someone who could open the shop one or two days a week, take commissions if they come in, and maybe do a little helping out with the commissions. I'm especially interested in any illustration work you could do, and copy work -- especially if you're any good at calligraphy or decorative handwriting."

Paige feigns an offended look and puts her hand to her chest, "Geoff! How could think suhc a thing of me!" she grins, "just figured you could use some breakfast."

"As long as you don't expect me to write poetry I'm pretty confident I could do all that, I've just got back into sketching again, and yeah I do calligraphy, so this'd just be writing out your poetry right?" she asks reaching in her bag ~~as the mun googles like a psycho~~ for some of her art work to show him.

Geoff laughs and sips at the coffee. "You've got it exactly. I have some books you can use to study up on heraldry, so you can help out with illustrating the coats-of-arms. Otherwise it'll be decorative illustration for poems, and as you said, copying the commissioned poems themselves. And, if you like, you can put up some of your own work for sale as well, or take commissions for yourself. You and Inara will be sharing a worktable, so you might want to get in touch with her and figure out a convenient schedule. I think she's looking at Mondays and/or Tuesdays, but I'll let the two of you figure that out."

He looks over the samples ~~which you totally do not have to actually show~~ and smiles. "This will do fine, Paige. Can you start next week?"

Paige nodded, "Okay cool I think I can handle that, I'll call Inara next week so we can work out what to do, I'll work out my timetable then call you to let you know when I can work if that's okay and next week sounds fine, it'll give me chance to practise a bit more before then."

"That sounds excellent, Paige." He smiles. "Did you get all of the classes you wanted this term?"

"Apart from Self-defense, but I met someone willing to give me lessons so that's not such a big deal," she pauses and bites her lip, "I wanted to take your classes again, but well I could only pick five and magic and paranormal seemed more important for..." she trailed off realising Geoff didn't know about her destiny and it wasn't really something she wanted to think about.

"There are a lot of exciting classes being offered, from the sounds of it, Paige. You don't need to apologize for not taking mine again. There's always next term, after all. And I imagine classes on magic would be very useful for you."

Paige smiles,m "Yeah that's kinda what I'm hoping, but yeah next semester I'll enroll, I really enjoyed poetry last time."

"I'm glad you did -- I'm only sorry that it was only a half-term class. Keep up with your writing though, even if you don't take the class this time."

She nodded, "Well if the muse takes me I guess I will, James wanted to see what I'd written, but well just no!"

Chuckling, Geoff says, "Well, if you'd ever like someone to look over your work for you, just let me know."

"I might just do that, thanks." she replies, of course that would possibly mean showing love poetry to her ex which was just wrong really, but he was a famous poet of course so could probably handle that sort of thing.

"As I said, Paige, any time." He doesn't appear to be concerned over what the poetry might entail, which probably means he's confident in his ability to be professional about it.

"You'll give me a call or stop by and let me know what sort of schedule you work out with Inara?"

She nods, "Yeah I'll you know as soon as I know whats happening, and thanks Geoff, I mean me and James could kinda use the money ~~since he's promised he's never going back to conning~~. I'll see you later then I guess, and enjoy the muffin" she says turning to leave.

"I'll see you later, Paige -- at the very least I'll see you next week to get you situated at the shop. And thank you, by the way, for the coffee and muffin."

He gives her warm grin as she leaves.
