Charlie is attempting to wrap presents and finish the exams grading at the same time. His desk is kind of a mess.

Kawalsky had sat under a tree for a good few hours and watched the sun come up. He hadn't found coffee or showered, so he was still covered in red and green paint from the art room debacle. He was about to head back to the dorms when he smelled coffee.

He followed that smell and found himself at Professor Eppes' office. Kawalsky hesitated before knocking. He was a mess and it was a wonder that he hadn't been given detention by now after last night. He was no longer drunk, but was on the cusp of being buzzed and feeling the hangover. He needed coffee and fast, so he knocked.

"Door is open!" Charlie called out. He was fighting a valiant battle with santa clause'd wrapping paper and being this close to tipping his coffee mug over.

"Morning, sir!" Kawalsky chirped. How could anyone be so chirpy when they had a hangover looming? Well, it had been a good night. "I come bearing.. well, nothing at all. But I come seeking coffee if you can spare some for a poor soul."

Charlie's eyebrows went up at the sight of Kawalsky. He pointed mutely towards the small table by the wall with the coffee maker on. He debated asking why... then realised something. "Hey, are you here to talk about your grade?"

Kawalsky flashed a grin in thanks and poured himself a cup. He then returned and sat down. The paint was dry now, so it didn't get on the furniture. "Yes." Well, it was mostly true. He'd come for the smell of coffee, but since he was here. "I just wanted to say thanks. I've never gotten anything as high as a B in math before." He sipped at the coffee. Ah, sweet caffeinated ambrosia.

"You deserved it." Charlie looked around the office suspiciously, then lowered his voice, eyes twinkling. "Really, it was the fox illustration (http://tinypic.com/estevp.jpg) that brought you up to a plus," he confided. "I was charmed."

Kawalsky grinned. "What can I say? I'm an artiste." He looked down at the paint splattered over him. "It's more obvious today than most days." He slurped more coffee.

"I can see that." Charlie nodded. He frowned down at the badly wrapped gift. "Performance artist today? Yourself as a canvas?"

"Heh. I was helping the art TA redecorate the art room overnight." He still had paint on his nose. "Art can get very messy, it seems. I still haven't slept yet. I should probably try that soon, or go get pancakes."

"A shower first, perhaps?" Charlie suggested, glancing up at Kawalsky with a grin. "And I hear sleep is very good for you. It's recommended and everything."

"A shower. Yes. Excellent idea." He finished off his coffee and stood up. "Thank you, Professor, for the excellent coffee and the safe haven. And the B. And, well, the class in general." He put the cup off to the side. "I think I'm gonna try to get my lib arts grad requirements out of the way next semester, so no math, but if you need anything I'm always around, so just holler."

Charlie nodded. "I'll keep that mind." He smiled and waved christmas wrapping paper to Kawalsky as he left.
