Study Hall -- Monday, September 12th

Welcome to today's Study Hall, kids. For all you new students, Study Hall is an open daily post for me to make announcements and for students who are not in class to mingle, study, eat lunch, explore the lunch, cause incredible amounts of trouble that make me want to fucking fill them full of ammo, and other non-class-related activities.

Today's announcements:

-- New students should make sure they are signed up for three classes and an extracurricular activity (part-time jobs count). They must post once a week in each class they have (or more, depending on the teacher's guidelines, but that's a school requirement). Keep that in mind when taking a class.

-- Our first detention will be this weekend. For you newbies, detention is a room you never want to enter unless you were planning on losing limbs in this lifetime. If there are any teachers who wish to run detention this weekend, that would really help, as the principal will probably be (OOC: Off celebrating her mun's birthday early ... woohoo!) otherwise occupied.

-- Reports are coming from the cafeteria that after a rather strange taste-testing incident this morning, the staff recommends that you do not eat the chicken salad sandwiches. From what I heard, everybody who's tried them has turned into a chicken. Let's not overwhelm the school nurse with an overabundance of shape-shifting poultry today, shall we?

-- There's been a reported sighting of a zombie on the third floor of the dorm. Whoever raised the dead on school property without the proper paperwork will be immediately given detention this weekend. Oh, and if somebody could wrangle the zombie, that'd be nice.

"Everyone kills who they used to be," River replies, dismissively. "It's how people change. Besides, who you are now is so much more interesting."

She leans back against the chair, and lowers her voice. "And I may not be her, but I know the torturer's touch. I know how it feels to be strapped to a chair, waiting, not knowing whether the next touch will bring pleasure or pain. I know the cruel cunning that hungers within, the desire to make the next stroke an artistic masterpiece, and I know the fury that boils up when that hunger is denied."

Her eyes narrow, and seem to gain depth with each passing second. "I've been both the victim and the killer. I've known sanity and madness and every step in between. And though I may not have done all the killing of the girl I used to be -- I had some help in that -- I buried her to survive." River smiles, slow, cold, and without humor. "So tell me... am I interesting now?"

Angelus stares at her a good long while. If he'd been from River's home dimension, the words out of his mouth would be "I'll be in my bunk." Since he's not, however, instead he says:

"Yeah. I think I could, uh, maybe not be bored with that. Say did it just get warm in here?"

She puts her chin on hand, and her mouth twists in a crooked half-smile. "Post notice. I'll be sure to attend."

"I'll be sure to look forward to it," Angelus says. He leans forward, giving her a winning, albeit fangless, smile. "You seeing anybody?"

She simply favors him with an enigmatic smile, then gets up and walks out the study hall door.
