Study Hall (12/14/2005)

After office hours, Jenny unlocked the door into Study Hall, maneuvered her containers of coffee, bagels, and cream cheese for the students, then set up her laptop and started working.

Anakin looked at the note and choked. "Um, thank you?" he tried. He looked at the desk. "You really leaving, or was that just for the radio?"

Faith stops smiling abruptly. "Oh. No, no, I actually am leaving. I've got to kind of, um, fall off the radar for a while." She nods at her crossout filled letter. "Some trouble with people from, um, home. They've got problems with some of my actions here."

She sighs, frowning. "I kinda don't want to go."

"I kinda don't want you to go," Anakin replied. "Who'll fight zombies with me? Or steal the brownies from Draco? Or tie that noose you people put around your necks for formal occassions?" He blushed. "Not that I'm planning on having to use one of those any time soon."

He turned to look at her. "I'll miss you."

If Faith was the type of person to cry, she'd have watering eyes right now. At the moment, she's settling for looking miserable. "I'm... I'm sorry. I'm gonna miss you too."

She looks at him, as if debating the merits of hugging.

Anakin felt Faith's emotions hit him like a wave, echoing what he was feeling.

He reached his hand out towards her. "When do you leave?" he asked quietly.

She half-shrugged. "Tomorrow night, maybe Friday at the latest. Depends on when I can get out without attracting a lot of attention."

Anakin swallowed hard. "That totally sucks," he said, kicking at the desk leg. "Stupid people from home and their 'not understanding' thing." He gave her a wicked smile. "I could talk to them? Maybe some aggressive negotiations?"

He sighed. "Or we could just get really drunk instead." He raised an eyebrow. "But without the 'getting married' part."

Faith laughs at that. "As much as I'd love the help, the negotiations're pretty much a no. They're not the type."

She smiles at him. "The getting drunk part'd work. I promise I won't try to get an Elvis to marry us."

"Had to offer," Anakin said. "Part of the whole Jedi thing."

He ran a hand through his hair. "I'll have to make a run to the NPC Liquor Store--I seem to have run out of the whiskey Han brought back for me." He blushed for no apparent reason. "That stuff was strong."

"But I'm done with classes, pretty much. I have no problem getting drunk in my room in the middle of the afternoon, say, tomorrow?" He gave her a sad smile. "Give you a chance to sober up before heading out of town?"

Faith smirks. "Yeah, I'll bet it was strong," she says, swallowing a laugh. "But yeah, I'm all for that plan. It'll be fun."

"You work for the pirate," Anakin said with another blush. "I'm sure you know all about it."

He stood up and piled the library books he had brought with him into a pile. "I should probably go turn these in before Zero comes after me with a mallet."

He gave her a small smile. "See you tomorrow, then?"

Faith grins. "You better watch it- I hear she's violent with that thing. Especially if you're late."
