After office hours, Jenny unlocked the door into Study Hall, maneuvered her containers of coffee, bagels, and cream cheese for the students, then set up her laptop and started working.

"Lots of great films coming out this week," she says with a grin. "And I hear great things about this Snakes on a Plane film..."

Jenny wrinkled her nose. "I don't know if I want to ask," she said. "You been to the movie theater? It's run by a couple of weird little robot types with romantic delusions. They're kinda fun, though."

Eighth's ears perk up at the term robot. "Robots, you say?"

Oh, right. Cyborg theory teacher. "Yeah, a couple of weird little guys. One's made out of a gumball machine, but the other one? Not sure what he's made out of. They keep offering me free admission or concessions for a kiss, but you know what? I like my guys with eyebrows. Or eyes. Or, you know, British, stuffy, and tweedy a little less with the wacky."

Eighth smiles widely. "I like my robots with eyebrows too," she says pertly.

"You work with a lot of robots?" asked Jenny. "What'd you do before you came to Fandom High?"

Eighth blinks. "Yes. I work with many robots," she says with a straight face. "I was a ... leader of my brethren."

"Bretheren?" asks Jenny. "Like in your church, maybe? Robots're neat, though. Gotta say, the ones I've seen here? Lot more advanced programming than the stuff back home."

Eighth avoids the question as she likes this Jenny woman. "What kind of programming do you have back where you're from?"

"Well, you've gotta remember, I somehow managed to skip here from 1998." Jenny shrugs. "Who knew, right? So we're talking itty bitty simple programs for robots. Now? You see some pretty neat stuff. But like I said, nothing compared to the stuff I see on this island."

Jenny rattles off a list of programming languages she knows and that the player hasn't yet bothered to define. "Plus, y'know, I've got the whole technopagan thing going on, which is a little unusual."

Eighth narrows her eyes and concentrates very hard on the pretty woman. "Technopagan thing?" she asks in a very friendly and interested tone.

"You don't know the term?" asks Jenny. This doesn't actually surprise her. "I use computers to do magic. It's kinda neat, actually. Way more fun than all those stuffy traditional incantations, y'know?"

Feeling very uncomfortable now, Eighth shifts a little. "Oh. Magic. That's very interesting. What kinds of fun and useful things can you do?"

"Just about anything you can do with traditional magic," says Jenny. She noticed Eighth shifting. "But you're one of those people who either has no experience with or doesn't believe in magic, aren't you?"
