After office hours, Jenny unlocked the door into Study Hall, maneuvered her containers of coffee, bagels, and cream cheese for the students, then set up her laptop and started working.

Still a little hyper from last night's pillow and cupcake war, Bridge bounces into Study Hall, RIC walking along behind him.

"Bridge!" Angel smiled when he saw him. "How's it going?"

"Dude!" Bridge waved at Angel. "Not bad, not bad. Had a pillow fight that sort of turned into a food fight last night, you know how that goes."

"Sounds like fun," Angel said. "You should've invited me. I'm all for anything that involves fighting and the use of Jell-O."

"Dude!" Bridge facepalms. "We didn't even think of Jell-o! You totally should've been there!"

"It would've been tons of fun," Angel said. "You don't know what it's like until you've tried it. Slippery and sticky, sure. Leaves you needing a change of clothes and a shower, definitely. But when you're done you're glad you did it."

Bridge beams at Angel. "That's it, man. Next time there's a food fight in the common room? 'm inviting you. You're all knowledgeable in the ways of Jell-O."

"I would love to," Angel said. "It'd be too much fun. Plus we don't spend enough time together. We should hang out more! You are such a great guy."

"Yeah?" Bridge says, "You think so? I'm not too...?" he makes a vague hand-gesture.

"Bridge," Angel reached across the table to put his hand on Bridge's shoulder. His face was deeply sincere. "It is okay if you are. There's nothing wrong with it. In fact, it can be a very beautiful thing. I would know."

Bel watched Angel and Bridge -- and Angel and Duo -- and the ignored Buffy -- with growing dismay. Something had gone wrong. Somehow Bridge and Duo ended up the targets of the spell? But he didn't really even know them -- how had their essence become part of the spell? And more importantly, how the hell did he fix it?

"Really?" Bridge beams. "Because usually people are all 'gah!' when I'm all," he does the hand-gesture thing again.

"I wasn't," Angel reminded him. "You gotta remember I'm from California. We're much more open minded there. Especially near 'Frisco and LA."

Anders slinks into study hall before his math class with his review notes in one hand, and a tray of chocolate-iced cupcakes with green icing in the other hand.

He smiles weakly when he sees Bridge and RIC, and heads over to sit with them. "Hey, man -- these are for you," he says, sliding the cupcakes over to Bridge.

Bridge looks at the cupcakes, then at Anders, then back at the cupcakes. Shrugging, he takes a cupcake and starts munching.

"Not that I'm gonna argue with cupcakes," he says, around a mouthful, "but... why?"

With an answering shrug, Anders rests his chin on his hands and absently watches Bridge demolish the cupcake. "Makin' it up to you. For bein' an ass last week, you know? Made a bigger one of myself last night, and that wasn't in a play."

Having finished off the cupcake, Bridge turns to look at Anders.

"What happened, dude?" he asked solemnly.

"D'you hear the radio at all today?" asks Anders, bleakly. "How Thrace busted her knee while we were playing last night and ended up in the clinic? It's my fault, dude. We were playing head games on the court, and they got out of hand, and well . . ."

He leans over and lowers his voice as much as he can without whispering. "Let's just say there weren't any wax lips involved."

Bridge winces, and then slides a cupcake over to Anders.

"Harsh, dude."

"Yeah, tell me about it." Anders looks at the cupcake, considering, then picks it up and pokes his nose into the frosting. He looks at Bridge as solemnly as he can with chocolate and green sprinkles on his nose, and says, "Big, stupid mistake. Not happening again. Still, I got no right to be mad at you any more, after that."

Despite the seriousness of the topic, Bridge can't help but giggle a little at Anders with frosting on his nose.

"S'okay, dude," he says with a shrug, "we can't always control our emotions, you know? Things happen."

"Yeah, I guess." Anders gestures toward Bridge's gloved hands. "Guess you would know about that, huh? Hey . . . could you maybe do that handwavey thing at me later? Not here, too many people, but if you get a chance later, y'know. Maybe this weekend or something? Might help me figure a few things out."

"Sure, no problem," Bridge says with a grin. "Always glad t'help a friend."
