Study Hall (12/14/2005)

After office hours, Jenny unlocked the door into Study Hall, maneuvered her containers of coffee, bagels, and cream cheese for the students, then set up her laptop and started working.

Angel wandered into Study Hall. He looked around as though uncertain of why he'd even come there.

Belthazor caught Angel coming into study hall out of the corner of his eye. He had to cover his mouth with his hand to hide his grin, pretending to yawn instead. Angel had to be looking for Buffy. The spell must've worked.

Angel's gaze paused when he came across Bel. He frowned, as though there was some thought in his tiny, easily distracted mind that he just couldn't put his finger on.

Bel watched Angel making the rounds, a little puzzled. He was happy. Well, that was good, but why? Had he already found Buffy and was himself again and was still pretending to be Angel, just overplaying it? Or more likely, just giddy with anticipation.

Jenny glanced over at Angel. "Hey, Angel," she said. "Been a while. Things going good?"

"Jenny," Angel beamed at her. "Things are going great. How about you? You look wonderful."

Jenny blinked. Angel was a charter member of the Doom and Gloom Patrol, so what was up with the happy face? "Doing pretty good," she said. "Just relaxing, making with the bagels and the coffee. Getting some grading done."

Then his last sentence hit her. "Uh, thanks. I think. You actually noticed?"

"Of course I noticed," Angel said. He tapped the side of his head. "Artist's eyes. The lines of your face and body are just begging to be drawn."

"Didn't know you were an artist," said Jenny. "Didn't know you were looking for models either. You taking art classes with--" She paused. "Actually, I don't know his name. The art teacher, I guess?"

"Not this year," Angel said. "Maybe next semester. Why? You offering to be my model?"

Jenny pursed her lips and looked over at Angel. "Sure, why not?" She shrugged. "But I'll bet the art teacher schedules models. I can't imagine that he wouldn't."

"Sometimes they allow private projects," Angel said. "Maybe you could give me a hand with some independant study."

"Wow," said Jenny, pulling back a little bit. "Gotta say, didn't expect that. You, uh, feeling okay there, Angel?" She tapped one finger on the edge of her laptop's keyboard and looked Angel over. His behavior was definitely off.

"I'm feeling great," Angel said. "Must be that math final. Now that the stress is gone it's like this huge weight has been lifted."

"Math is pretty much a tool of the devil," said Jenny, wrinkling her nose. She leaned forward and rested her chin on her hand. "Glad to know you're feeling good. You look like you're having fun. Seeking out people to draw and--looking for a good time?"

"Taking things as they come," Angel spread his hands out to indicate how casual he was feeling about everything. "I feel like today's a good day to see what falls into my lap and then just go with it."
