Journalism Class - Tuesday December 13

Krycek runs in at the last minute upon learning that Spider is out and pulls a big green marker from the desk at the head of the class, writing out the assignment on the screen.

100 words on punctuality, why it's important or not, and be prepared to convince the hell out of me should you be saying the latter.

Alternatively-

100 words on the postal system in Alpha Centauri. How does one post letters in space? Explain however you like, but plausibility is a plus.

He then sits down at the desk and seems in dire need of some coffee.

[OOC: I've already assumed class was cancelled for the day based on Monster's earlier post, and had Angela behave accordingly and mention this fact. I guess I need to retcon?]

[OOC: Yeah, I think that's the best we can do. Thanks.]

Jake, being a nice boyfriend, wanders over to him and places a coffee cup in front of him. "I was totally going to do that. ...Well, no. I wasn't."

"You know me too well." Jake grinned and sipped his coffee. "Hey, have you finished the interview thing yet?"

Jake shrugged. "'S cool. Less work for me. Um. I have a... something I want to ask you."

"Want to come home with me for the holidays?"

[identity profile] courier-gavin.livejournal.com 2005-12-13 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Jake nodded. "Home to Geneva. We'd have to show up at some parties and stuff, but.. um. It's usually fun."

"Yeah." Jake made a face. "He'll probably be busy a lot though. 'Tis the season to butter up the clients and whatnot."

John signs in.

Punctuality is important because it is often the first thing that people notice about you. If you’re early or on time, that often leaves a good impression on someone. They’ll remember that you’re dependable and that you able to follow a schedule. If you’re late, it’s often going to annoy and turn someone off to your dependability.

Punctuality is important so appointments aren’t missed. If you make an appointment with someone, showing up late is going to irritate the other person and it’s going to put you in an extremely bad light. Be on time. It makes you look good.

And, just for kicks, he does the other one hundred words.

Letter delivery in space, I think, will resemble letter delivery on Earth except the people who deliver the mail might be alien in nature and the delivery vehicle won’t be a little white truck but rather some form of space faring ship. Receptacles will be set up in cities that the delivery person will collect from, they’ll dump it on their spaceships and travel from planet to planet, delivering all the mail. It’s an easy system and, most of the time, it’s one that works. The only downside would be losing mail, packages and letters to the vacuum of space.

[ooc: I made mention elsewhere of V skipping class today... can I arrange for her to use extra credit to make up her attendance?]

Xander walks in an hour late, looks at the screen, looks at his notebook full of very messy notes for his final project which he's been scribbling away at in study hall so diligently that he fogot to actually go to class, and snickers. A lot.

He leaves a torn-out page from his notebook on Spider's desk with his name on it, and the following:

Punctuality is important because if you don't show up on time, you might miss things. Like for instance, the bus. Now if the bus is going to Cleveland in January, this might not be such a bad thing, but if it's the last one to Fort Lauderdale for Spring Break? You and your unpunctual ass are going to be very unhappy sitting in the cold, smelly bus station eating Cheetos (well, you - hopefully your ass isn't eating Cheetos because eww and also crumbs, oww) and trying not to make eye contact with Big Earl over there on the next bench.
