Cyborg Theory

Hello, students. Welcome to the last class of cyborg theory. I have enjoyed each and every one of you for your fascinating insights, opinions and quirks of personality. Also, I love the gifts of slinkies that keep appearing on my desk, bless you!

The short fictional stories that you err… sent me last Friday all came in – thank you – and I have enjoyed reading them. I fear that if any of you teamed up to take over the galaxy, my brethren and I would be in a lot of trouble you would succeed due to your wit, creativity and sharp little minds. Well done.

To conclude the semester, I have your final exams which consist of four essay questions – please answer only one of the questions.

After you have finished, please fill out the form evaluating the class.

Oh! And I almost forgot. I will be teaching a class next semester that I believe many of you may be interested in. Please look for it when you plan your spring schedules.

And to conclude, again, thank you. *Eighth looks away, and would cry if she had tear ducts*

Sam signed in and took the exam. She may have been a little more anxious and distracted than strictly warranted--she still kept looking for NID Agents.

Aeryn signs in and takes the exam. Probably does pretty well, too.

Anakin signed in and took the exam, doing very well as he's smart like that.

He left a slinky on the professor desk on his way out and was certainly not winking at her. Not even a little bit. Something in his eye, that's all.

Lee dutifully signs in and takes the exam.

John signs in and does all right on the exam. He did study after all.

Cally is here! Cally takes the exam!

[[ooc: Cally-mun has actual snippets of the Adventures of Samson J Ambers and Kalli, Cylon Hunters to type up! And will do so at the conclusion of real schoolwork!]]

After signing in, Sharon sits down. She's a little nervous, but she has been studying. She knows she has. She just doesn't remember it all that well.

Ten minutes later, she blinks, and realizes she's completed the exam.

She hopes she did well. Since she's a Cylon programmed to excel, she did very well, omg. Mama, I shall miss you! *cries*

Bridge signs in and, after gnawing thoughfully on his pen for ten minutes, finally selects the second essay question and answers it.

Kara signs in and sits down to take the exam.

Re: EVALUATION

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-12-13 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
No, I would not. Cyborgs are not inherently evil. However, based on my own past experiences, I am unable to view them without a healthy dose of skepticism. The basic level of trust that I would normally have for another human being simply does not exist--and under these special circumstances, I believe that it is safer for me, and for the rest of the world, that I feel that way.

*fills out rest of evaluation*

If I were in a situation where, for instance, all the people shooting at me were robots, then yes, probably. Because better them than me. However, in any other case, I would at least look into the situation before doing anything.

Unless they were shooting at me or making other overtly agressive actions, no, I wouldn't.

Because a good protocol droid is hard to find and expensive to replace.

Kidding. This class has expanded my outlook on how cyborgs think and react around the multiverse. Things are much more complicated than black and white--it's better to take a moment to reflect rather than act without thought and live to regret it.

Lee thinks about it and writes down, "if I see a cylon, I'm shooting the frakking thing no matter what."

Re:

I would kill a robot/cyborg on sight only if the first sight I saw was them attempting to harm me. If they weren't attempting to harm me, I wouldn't harm it either.

Sharon considered, then wrote I think I'd at least hear their side, first. Let them live, 'cause they're related, of course.

Re:

I would only kill a robot/cyborg on sight if that sight included them doing something horrible, like killing a baby or stealing my boyfriend. Otherwise, my first reaction would be to say hi and smile, or possibly give them a hug.

Re:

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2005-12-13 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
"No... because I don't kill people on sight, and cyborgs and robots are people."

"All of them except you," Kara writes with a little happy face at the end.
