Newspaper Meeting (16:00-20:00 fhs)

ooc: Posted hella early 'cause I'll be gone from iBook today.

Jake was sitting crosslegged on a desk, notepad on his knee and phone to his ear. "...Yeah, newsp--What? It's a school newspaper! No, we're not going-- For frak's sake, I just want to know what he's up to! Or even just if he's still alive! ...How can that be a state secret? That's so not an answer."

His laptop is next to him, displaying TextEdit with the following written:

Veronica stops by the newspaper meeting early.

"Hey, Jake!" she says. "I'm going to do my article this week on mutants. I've already secured an interview with Rogue. I'm still trying to find a second though." She tilts her head at him thoughtfully.

Jake hung up with a growl and turned his attention over to Veronica. An obvious mistake. She was doing that thing again. "...I'm a mutant..." he said, warily.

She grins.

"So can I interview you?" she asks, head still tilted. She glances at the board. "I can do a holiday interview, too."

"...I guess you could," Jake said, and blinked, not really sure if he'd meant to say that. "You can? Cool. Who?" He lifted the iBook up on his lap.

"Thanks, Jake, you're the best," she says, still grinning. She looks over the list.

"Oh, I can interview Han. We have class together tomorrow night. and we'll all just ignore the fact that I signed Veronica in to the wrong business class this week *headdesk*. I can talk to him then."

She pulls out her schedule book. "And when are you free?"

[ooc: and I remembered to email myself your email addy so I can interview you today - go me!]

Jake added V's named next to Han's, then checked his calendar. "Any time except Saturday and Sunday, really."

"How about tomorrow morning? I'll buy you coffee."

[ooc: leaving the house now! catch you later.]

Jake grinned. "Sounds good."

Angel stopped by. He had the look of someone who was really hoping that everyone would forget to give him an assignment.

Angela raises an eyebrow in Angel's direction. "Hey," she says. It's not unfriendly, but it also isn't especially warm.

"Hey," Angel replied. "Am I in your way?"

"Huh? No," Angela says. "Just, like, saying hi." She chews her thumbnail, thinking.

"Look, Rory and Parker told me you stood up for Rory in class Friday. Which was cool of you, 'cause I know she was really upset by the whole thing. That's all."

"I thought the topic was tasteless," Angel said. He spoke matter-of-factly, neither confirming nor denying whether he was deserving of praise for his actions. "I said as much."

Angela nods slowly. "I can't imagine you -- I mean, the other you -- arguing with Tara. Among other things."

She pushes her hair behind one ear, studying Angel. "If Rory is forgiving you, or whatever? Which it sounds like she's starting to? I have nothing to hold against you, compared to her. Just wanted you to know that."

"Thanks," Angel said. "You don't have to if you don't want. It's okay."

A tiny, but genuine smile plays around Angela's mouth. "We can see how it goes. Seriously."

"I'd like that."

Jake gives Angel a piece of paper with a name written on it. "You. Interview her. Teacher profile, try to get something on holidays. Deadline's on Saturday."

Angel looked at the paper. He looked at Jake. "Small article?" He indicated something just about an inch big with his hands. "Very tiny?"

Jake snorted. "In your dreams. 300 to 500 words, dude. Oh and get a photo if you can, 'cause D's busy with the journalism thing."

"You know they say a picture's worth a thousand of those."

"If you need someone to get a picture, let me know. Veronica and I both have good cameras," Chloe says, trying to sound reassuring and helpful.

"Really?" Angel said. "When are you free? ~~Like tonight, maybe? As there's a vague possibility Angel might be interviewing Bree then depending on what her player says?~~"

"Sure. I'm free most evenings. Like tonight, yes. *g* I could probably use the distraction from studying."

"Evenings are very good for me," Angel said, with a small grin. "I'll let you know when the interview is. ~~Yeah, what he just said. Hopefully tonight though.~~ Studying? Whatcha got? I'm dreading Math on Friday."

"Hey," Veronica said with a grin. "I'm glad you made it. Did Jake give you an assignment?"

"Yeah," Angel showed her the slip of paper with Mrs. Van De Kamp's name on it. "I have to do an interview. Already the book puns are suggesting themselves."

Veronica chuckled. "You know, if you stopped bringing it up, I bet other people wouldn't make the association."

"I somehow doubt that," Angel said. "Hey, did you get a chance to talk to Piper?"

After a moment of confusion, Veronica remembered what he was talking about. "Oh, yeah, I guess I haven't seen you since then. She's in. And did you get my message the other day? About what I heard on the radio broadcast?"

"I did," Angel looked sheepish. "After I remembered to check my voice mail. That can't be good. Something tells me those two aren't meeting up to plan my birthday surprise party."

"I would doubt that." She tilted her head and gave him a curious look. "Is your birthday coming up?"

"No, so all the more reason to suspect," Angel replied. There was a glint of humor in his eyes. "You know, this sounds like the kind of thing we should get the others in on. Bel and Spike, I mean. Not my birthday."

"The others?" Veronica asked, in confusion. "Oh, you mean like Piper?"

"Piper, you, me, Marty, maybe Parker," Angel confirmed. "Those of us who have a vested interest in making sure Bel and Spike's hobbies are restricted to things like macrame."

"Sounds good to me. Let me know what you get set up. I gotta scoot, work tonight!"

Angela joins the group. "I interviewed Rover yesterday," she tells Jake. "Who knew he had angst?"

Chloe comes in just in time to hear that. "Rover? Like, our Rover? He seems so, you know, bouncy."

"That's what I thought," Angela says. "But ... he typed the interview, and he told me that he was the only Rover and that the students are his family, and it was just..." She twists a piece of hair, sighing. "Weirdly sad, you know? That he's so lonely. I hope Lilly Kane at least makes him happy."

"Awww." Chloe frowns. "That is sad. But I think Lilly makes him happy. I hope so, at least." She smiles at Angela. "Thank you for doing the interview."

Like always, Callisto wanders in after sociology. "Evening."
