John looks shiftily at Angel. "Yeah, right. At least you got a class. I'm singing about a mule!"

"Speaking overweight," John says and lowers his voice. "Have you seen the toaster and Santa at all?"

"No," Angel lowered his voice as well, leaning in for privacy. "And I'm worried about Toasty. I don't think we thought this through all the way."

"I haven't seen them either. Aeryn saw them in the hall yesterday but there's no sign of them now." John looks around. "You don't think Santa would hurt Toasty, do you?"

"He's bound to, John!" Angel said. "Think about it! It's Santa! Toasty's going to get all wrapped up, then the season's going to be over and then where's Toasty going to be? It's like a May/December romance but it's all December!"

John grimaces and nods. "Should find Toasty then and have a serious talk with Santa. I mean, we can't let him hurt Toasty. He might be annoying but he's....well, he's not family but he's the only toast cooking thing we have!"

Angel nodded. "I think we should do it together. You know, as... parents. Or whatever we are to it."

"Yeah, I agree. But, they're moving fast and they're small. And Santa knows if we've been naughty or nice so he's obviously psychic. Which means he might know we're coming..."

"Moving fast." Angel frowned, worriedly. "You don't think Toasty and Santa have - um - ahem?"

"They've what?" He waits for Angel to tell him but then realizes what he means. "Ewww, ewww, ewww!" After dry heaving, he looks thoughtful. "How would that work?"

There was a pause.

"Oh god. So to speak."

"I'm gonna be thinking about that all night because of you!" John pushes him in the shoulder. "You're cooking the night of the pageant just for that!"

"Like I'm happy with the mental image? I think I just pro-actively put off perfect happiness for a month."

There was another long pause. During this pause Angel absolutely did not think about Callisto.

"Does Toasty like you? Would he let you get close to him? I mean, Santa might've brainwashed him!"

"I dunno," Angel admitted. "I'm the one who set him up with Santa in the first place. He could love me or hate me for that."
