History Classes (12-05-05)

Dewey sits at his desk, drumming on the top with his hands as he grooves to the music on his iPod headphones. He is nodding affirmatively, giving his best hard-rocker face until the bell rings and it is time to begin class. He stands up, and whacks the chalkboard affirmatively with his pointy stick.

History of the Ancient World

"So like way back in ancient times, hundreds of years before the dawn of history, an ancient race of people, the Druids. No one knows who they were or what they were doing and stuff. But then they went and built this awesome thing called the Stonehenge, like the greatest henge in the world. Now, maybe they warmed up first with a Woodhenge and a Strawhenge, but man, the Stonehenge was the tippest of the top. Now, the question really is... what the heck does a henge do, anyway?"

East Asian History

"So, Japan, right? Land of the Rising Sun, not to be confused with the House of the Rising Sun, which is a really kickass song, you know? Now, Japan was really kickass in its own way back in the time of the katana and the samurai. But what I'm really wanting to get at here is the history of the great guy, like, the first Emporer dude. His name was Jimmu Tenno. Now Jimmy didn't take no guff, even though all sorts of things were trying to get in the way of his founding the imperial line. But he perserved like a good little hero and got to be all divine and powerful. So basically, next time you kids have an issue or hardship in your life, maybe you should stop and think 'What Would That Jimmy Tenno Guy Do?' That's all I got, children. Go enjoy your sack lunches or something."

Thomasina makes it to this history class on time, takes her seat and listens to the lecture, such as it is. She is more than a little confused by the things this replacement history master talks about and she wishes that Wednesday were still around to help her understand things.
